You're gonna laugh, but when I trade on my phone, I use Chrome to open up Vanguard instead of using their mobile app. Even though it's really small on the web on your phone, it's leagues better than the mobile app personally, but I guess everyone has their own preference. I think that with enough knowledge and motivation, index funds are only useful as a "high-yield savings account" if you trade stocks primarily. However, that being said, a vast majority of people don't know shit about stock trading, and the ones who could not care less about it at least have an option for investing if they never want to look at their stocks again. When I first got into stock trading, I thought index funds were 100% useless and not lucrative enough, then realized that they actually do have a good place for people who do not care about stocks and investing.
