Dogecoin is essentially an improved version of bitcoin that is more efficient in distribution (processing speed and reliability) and and price stability, in theoretical application it is a better bitcoin. The thing is though that there's plenty of other crypto that are also better bitcoins than bitcoin that have other utlity. Ethereum (and several other crypto monies) for instance has smart contracts, which is a practical use that is not strictly monetary. Much in the same way that bitcoin's value is based on it being the first of it's kind, dogecoin is a memecoin based on a silly internet picture. Ride the poomps if you have extra money to burn, but do not put money into it in the long term.
