For the new posters.

The bankers use a derivatives market called the COMEX to manipulate silver. 500 digital ounces of silver are traded back and forth for every real ounce held in the vaults. Equivalent to fractional reserve banking. The banks heavily short it. They would go bankrupt if the physical was taken delivery of; the short squeeze would cost them trillions. The regulators said when first setting up silver-trading on the COMEX in the 70s that the purpose was to scare off the average investor with suppression and volatility. Don’t let them win.

Learn about suppression from

This article about the Hunt Brothers, "Hunt for Silver," is also a must-read: https://s3.amazonaws.com/camppictures/CampArchive/Economy/Hunt%20For%20Silver.pdf | They were cheated by the bankers just like the GME short-squeezers today.

If you buy, only buy either physical coins or if you do go with ETFs, PSLV. NOT SLV.

PSLV: Run by billionaire silver-bull and banker-killer Eric Sprott, fully audited and backed, with a delivery mechanism at 10,000 ounces for anybody

SLV: Scam with no proven metal, run by JP Morgan, only a few big banks have access, 500,000 ounces only if you're a big bank, can pay you out in cash in case of a default

If you can't buy PSLV then buy AG (First Majestic Silver), support the squeeze on the 30%-float banker short which they are using to punish Keith Neumeyer, who refuses to supply the COMEX. It's the next GME.

if you are stacklet now, go buy both silver and gold, but always keep premiums as low as possible, so do not buy 1g bars for 25% premium, for gold anything under 3% is ok, ideally under 1%, may be hard to achieve right now, especially in the US.
For silver, stay with 1oz coins, 10oz coins, 1kg coin, for bars 10oz bars, 1kg are most common. Stay away from meme bars like 250g with a funny ship on it, they arent as liquid and liquidity may be important in the future...

30% of the float is short. That's the same as Volkswagon. Do you know what Volkswagon did? Picture related. And AG isn't even at fair value yet. Buying now is simply getting in at the bottom with an excellent company. "Spot" price is the theoretical market value of silver as a commodity, generally sold in large quantities (5000oz+) and often as futures contracts.

"Premium" is the additional price you pay at retail to actually obtain some bars/coins. When metals prices are more volatile it leads retailers to charge a larger premium which helps insulate their costs (or to take advantage of periods of very high demand).

Spot might be $25, and you might pay $5 premium meaning you pay $30/oz.

Physical silver can only be manipulated for so long. Solar energy and new age battery's need silver, it is an essential component. I cracked open Rothbard's book on the history of Money & Banking in the US from the colonial period to WW2.
Apparently the first fiat currencies started in the colonies because the governments weren't able to pay their soldiers & sailors with real silver the moment they started failing with every raid against the French, and from there it was just used to start paying off public debts to England.
Meanwhile the price of everything for the actual citizens doubled in Massachusetts.
It got to the point where England had to ban paper money in the colonies.

My hoards of British circulated silver took years to build up, I built some wood cases from my queens beasts and Crown coins and want to hand them down. Even my Britannias which I bought for the exact reason of trading for gold or selling at a good price I no longer want to part with. The situation is worse with my gold, I have a collection of about 40 old sovereigns, the oldest being a George VI, these are historic and I never want to part with them.

the problem is that these systems dont hold either. Governments will control minting and in times of crisis when they need money start lowering the % silver in coins. Or in tradewars they take the coins of other countries, melt them down, remint them with less silver content, and that way poison someone else's coins.

Fair point,
Rothbard, being a Lolbertarian did mention that the problem with currency in England was how much control the government had over the minting, and pegging an artificial ratio between the 2 metals.
I think the fact that they made it legally binding for creditors to accept payments at that ratio is what made it possible to manipulate markets through minting poor quality coins and removing coinage from the market.
What's interesting is that the use of both gold and silver as currency in the past was sometimes used as a way of keeping common citizens poor, such as in Florence(or am I thinking of Venice?) where the common people could only trade in silver, and gold was reserved for the merchant class and nobility.
>you can see how if you have these two different currencies, it's only the relative ratio between the two that you can manipulate, but it has a big impact.

Well there is an old saying. Kings pay eachother in gold, nobles and gentlemen pay eachother in silver, and peasants pay eachother in money.

I think you can solve the gold/silver problem by just carrying 1 noble metal as the official payment metal.
But this still doesnt solve the problem that coins that hold their own value have. Namely less silver per coin and reminting coins with less silver to ruin the value.

Silver is a bit different from gold in that a good portion of it's value is industrial use, so in a market crash silver will likely go down as well such as in march. That being said even if the spot price implodes to $10 an oz, it's unlikely you'll be able to find anything for sale at that price if speculative demand keeps up the way it is now. I would suggest buying moderate amounts when it seems like a ok price such as now, and keeping cash in reserve for buying larger dips.

You could have a mandatory size, shape, and weight for the coinage.
That way you can filter for coins that weigh less or more because they've had aluminum or some other BS mixed in.
The entire reason there are rims on the edges of coins is because Jewish merchants a long time ago would use their knives to shave off little bits of gold every time they had a gold coin in their hand.
Size, shape, and weight all need to be standardized to avoid the mint from alloying.

In most states silver is taxable under a certain amount, but not over like $1K. The only issue with 100oz bars is finding someone who will have that much money when silver moons. A kilo gold bar right now is $60K and finding someone who has the capital to buy that is har. Even still, I have 3 100oz bars because they stack so nice.

I have to echo the feelings some anons were expressing the other thread, feeling that the wind had changed directions with this whole Normie Enlightenment phase we're going through right now. People are waking up to the market manipulation, the nature of fractional reserve currency, Wall Street and the media's symbiotic relationship - how they can warp perception to make the good guy seem like the bad guy and vice-versa, and how quickly they run to cover for their protected class.

It's somewhat terrifying and exciting at the same time. We all know where this is headed, and it's a scary place. I just didn't think it would accelerate so quickly and for such silly reasons like motherfucking Gamestop.

Ultimately this has the potential to fuck the entire world economy; something that started as a joke. Yet now we're seeing record numbers of people interested in Silver and its highly manipulated prices, and just in general for its nature as real money. The retail crowd rushing in might be the force that finally breaks the market manipulators and sets silver free.

Godspeed to all of us. I'm definitely going to buy more supplies over the weekend.

Basically, the gold atoms relativistically bond with each other. The gold atom has a lot of positive charge (protons) which makes the electrons orbit really close to the nucleus at close to the speed of light. This means relativity comes into play with the electrons that are orbiting close to the speed of light. Somehow, that effect causes the relativistic electrons to become "correlated" with other relativistic electrons in other gold atoms and therefore attract each other over distances much farther than would be expected of electrons orbiting so tightly to the nucleus.

Regardless of the molecular structure they are in, the gold atoms are always attracted to each other, which is also really weird. Normally the electrons that an atom uses to pair with other atoms make the atom interact mostly within the molecular structure, as far as I understand, but with gold it is like its electrons are special and will "correlate" with other gold atoms and be attracted to them no matter what, as long as they are somewhat close initially.

Other heavy metals like palladium, mercury, platinum, silver, etc. exhibit this property but not in as many situations as gold does, which is why gold is special and its self bonding is given the name 'aurophilicity' and 'metallophilicity' isn't mentioned as much.

Pan Man has talked about how gold actually accretes to itself in rivers as the particles flow downstream from the source, so you end up finding big nuggets that you wouldn't expect to find far away from a fairly fine grained source.

TLDR; gold always attracts gold which gives it special properties even in metal form

Yes, but here's an alternative suggestion -

Get a monster box of Silver Eagles. Then, look for the cheapest, yet most trustworthy silver in bulk you can find instead of buying the Maples. This can be 10 or 100oz bars or Kilo bars.

Reason I suggest this is that 500oz of silver in the form of Eagles is already very liquid, in case you need to sell them. However, bars will have less premiums and thus allow you to stack more.

In premiums alone I managed to get 65oz more silver by going this route than I would have had I just bought multiple monster boxes of high premium coins.

Assuming the world doesn't, in fact, end, you can just sell them back to local coin shops or online dealers. With Eagles, you should get spot + a small premium on the price in most conditions. And if they're hard to find, you can even get more than that since they're so desirable that people are willing to pay more for them.

Still if things go the way they should go, in the next few years we should see silver 4x, maybe 10x and beyond.

Silver has way more up (or down) potential, while gold should stay mostly stable coming soon.

Because I don't have enough money to where simply storing value is better than putting it into silver.
I would buy 60/40 though if I had more savings
