There is a big fight coming and a potential chain split. That should mean short term loss of value soon, due to uncertainty with the potential for bigger gains when it's stable. Both sides will attack each other even if there is no split.

The charts are useful to help give you a baseline but bear in mind the games about to be played.

I had sold off eth a while ago and am keeping it in fiat for the time being. Eth might be a better hedge than fiat but I don't care.

I want to have coins on both sides of the chain if there is a split, and I will use my fiat to buy against segwit, if it looks like segwit is losing.

A gambler would use eth instead of fiat, which is potentially more lucrative but higher possible losses.
