Any wagies here actually turn rags to riches from trading?
Everywhere I look people bragging about how much they're making from trading and investing.

Most people were already stockpiling before they made even more from trading. Others who claim to have gotten rich from it are lying out of their teeth, and among these, there is a subset who are lying just to try climbing the ladder through whatever wealth you own (it works if they can convince enough suckers).

I talked to a bunch of my friends who are long term investors (who legit live off their earnings each year). They told me to stay away from GME despite the huge potential their take aways was;

people who buy late are going to get fucked, so if you got fomo right now and think you're gonna buy in, you're gonna be the fall guy that gets destroyed due to regulation from the gov bailing the big firm out again, or you got bear trapped by all the people who bought early who's stock you're gonna buy and they made 300% or more.

It's such a risky gamble, people see 300% or more returns and they get so hyped and dump their entire life savings and since they're first time investors they get completely fucked by the corrections or regulation. If you really want to live free, you invest x amount of money, see 7-14% returns each year, pay yourself back on your original investment and use that child investment to explore opportunities for profit. You're gonna lose eventually, it's the reality of the game - lots of folks gonna lose on this GME shit.

OP, as a former wagie that made it, let me give you some advice:

Avoid crypto and option trading. Crypto is a fucking terrible investment during a bull run, and you WILL lose money trading options as a newfag, something you can't afford to do.

You should be DCAing (dollar cost averaging) at least $100 (more if able) into a broker and making "safe" investments. After the insanity has cooled, actively browse WSB and /biz/ for meme stocks that are being shilled. Also check other communities and business related news on new developments (Like the announcement that Amazon is partnering with BB). DYOR on these stocks and see if the potential checks out. You can easily 20-30%+ your investments. Pull out of these stocks once the gains have stabilized and look for other opportunities. Set stop losses on these stocks for a little under what you're willing to lose on them in case they don't check out. You won't lose that much money doing this and you will have gained a considerable amount of money in your brokerage account.

After about a year, you're going to have a lot more money to play with. The more money you have, the more money you will make. The key is to stay active in investment communities and get into spikes EARLY. For instance, if you spent a lowsy $1000 on AMC stock when it was $5, you could have cashed out at $5000.

Also, learn to take profits. 30% max before pulling out. Don't ride something forever. This GME shit is a meme and NOT THE NORM.

Also read books faggot. Pic related.

It depends on your goals OP. If you want life changing money in the next couple of years there is no way around going for a high risk investment or business. Crypto is full of high risk / high reward plays, but of course coming out on top is easier said than done. Look at RBC, it was shilled here when it was still <1M cap, then went on to do a 20x in the span of a few weeks, that can be life changing for someone (e.g. 1K investment -> 20K out, good capital to build other positions).
Of course, RBC type runs are not that common, but if you know what to look for it's possible to get on with relatively low risk. To elaborate on the RBC example, a <1M cap project with a working product and tackling an important problem (cross-chain swaps) with a team and github you can verify is clearly undervalue especially when you compare it to competitors. Note that I don't care much about RBC, just giving pointers to help you see the difference between a random shitcoin and a legitimate opportunity.
Otherwise, even higher cap projects still have a lot of room for growth over the years considering the size of the industries to be disrupted. Despite LINK's growth, I think it still has a long way to go considering smart contract adoption is nowhere near its full potential. Going for higher risk / reward plays, project like QNT (QNT is for interoperability, stellar team with unique technology that isn't yet another blockchain, see these posts for more info: https://medium.com/@CryptoSeq/quant-networks-overledger-part-one-blockchain-fundamentals-db7fdb43058a)) and PNK also have a lot of potential (see this post for PNK / kleros https://medium.com/the-definancier/the-subjectivity-problem-39bdd2704cb3))

Beware that you will most likely lose money if you get into crypto, but as long as you earn more than you lose you're fine. I suggest avoiding trading and preferring buy & hold because for the vast majority of people that'll give them better returns. Good luck anon

I've caught out at least 4 people claiming online to be "online traders" 1 was a student 2 were on welfare the other seems to be a trust funder. Idiots post about themselves online and think there's no way to findout who they are.

trading is fucking risky but investing seems safer.

i have a GEM like tokamak network that is the first L2 aggregator of the crypto-cosmo. team members are brilliant korean guyz and it is a new generation L2 solution. the increasing workload of ethereum network will cause most dapps to use the L2 solution. so i am waiting for a huge L2 hype and TON can be the star of it

Haven't quite made it to "riches" status, but I did take $15k and turn it into $75k from trading BTC. I then took my BTC, converted to USDC so that I could earn 8% interest on Nexo, and now I'm just sitting on it until BTC drops back down to the teens or lower...I'm just hoping this retail trading frenzy doesn't reignite the BTC bull run from a few weeks ago

I traded $50k IRA into $100k in 14 months. Got bagged in XOM. Picked ZM and MRNA early but sold too soon. Same with DDD and some others. Take profits too quickly is my problem need to let it ride. So this year I only take %50-100% profits. So far did ok buying last summer in AMC and crypto miners, X.

since when is /biz filled with this many poor people and no coin copers
it truly is nubiz, so different then the bear market just a year ago
i am a europoor and even i managed to scrape together 120k eurinos to throw into crypto in early 2019 because /biz teaches you how trading cycles work
and i am a poor fag because we have leftover people from the 2017 top, there are legit 8 digit networth posters here but unlike plebbit we don't have a cult of personality here so they don't brag

if you were here more then a year ago, you would know this is true because of the lifestyle and how to turn crypto stacks into generational wealth threads
