Robinhood has its own clearing house but it acts as just a middleman. Clearing goes all the way back to Cede & Co.

It's fraud. They advertise as a broker, but as soon as you invest money they ban you and take your money. They have to allow you because they claim to allow you, and literally have your money in their pocket.

There's an argument to be made that it's a Trojan horse meant to trick people into thinking it's a broker, but actually allows them to collude with large funds. Either they admit that brokers are mass defrauding their users and rigging the markets, or they admit the markets and laws are fundamentally rigged. Companies really don't win in either situation, but the government loses unless they make an example out of them.
