“Completely drowned out by the stock market” edition!

Welcome to the Monero General, dedicated to the discussion of the world's leading decentralized p2p privacy cryptocurrency!

Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, meaning users can send XMR around the globe despite corrupt governments or broken financial systems. Innovative privacy features such as Ring Signatures, Stealth Addresses, and Ring CT (hidden tx amounts) ensure that Monero's blockchain is obfuscated -- the financial history of all Monero users is encrypted from the prying eyes of adversaries on a public blockchain, with transactions being visible only by a Monero user willingly providing a view key for a specific transaction.

Monero has also improved upon the scaling downsides of current popular cryptos. To avoid high fees, dynamic block size ensures that the size of the blocks will increase as the amount of txs increases. Further, the mining network algorithm RandomX establishes that anybody with a CPU can participate in mining, preventing the ASIC miner domination that creates a high barrier of entry. Lastly, the mining network will be preserved by Tail Emission -- instead of the block reward falling to zero like with Bitcoin, the block reward will gradually approach 0.6 XMR in May 2022, where it will forever stay. This constant linear inflation means the inflation rate will asymptotically go to zero while continuing to provide an incentive to miners to maintain the network.

If you still have questions, feel free to ask and a MoneroChad will be with you shortly.

Listen, I know monero is shitting the bed.
Right now is not the time to buy.
If we finally have a real crash, we can expect monero to hit $60-$80 maybe even lower.

Be patient and trust the fundamentals and also monero can be tracked by the breadcrumbing of fractured ring signatures.

Buy slowly if you are eager.
You wont miss the moon ride just yet.

The mistake people make is that they want to spend their entire $10k life savings at once and then they are unable to buy the dips.

If you have $10k, buy $500-$1k a month until you find the right entry point.

But if we do moon would you really care that you had to buy at $150 vs $110

As a wise anon once said, you can judge your real opinion on your investment by imagining a scenario in which you buy in and the price drops. Imagine you put $5k into XMR at $130 and it drops to $50 next month. Are you depressed that your $5k is now less than $2k, or are you excited that you can get a bunch more shares for cheap?

Nice.
I've been doing the same, but i just feel there's a high likelyhood of a big downturn in all crypto soon.
Especially with this gamestop stuff.
I already have the cash earmarked for xmr.

i kind of feel like it'll be the opposite after a few weeks or so. normalfags will likely want to re-live the rush of making imaginary funny money on the compooter and crypto is generally better than the stock market for that, plus 24/7

This happens to me occasionally. You should be fine assuming you sent to the right address. Make sure your wallet is up to date, and maybe restart the daemon. Dealing with the shitty wallet is definitely holding xmr back. I hope they fix it soon.
