you pay more in gas so that your execution is included in the next block sooner rather than later
if there's a lot of network activity, people are paying more to get faster transactions which drives up the price for everyone else since normal prices wont cut it

The problem I'm actually worried about, as we are coming off all-time highs and there are tens of thousands of people who have been disenfranchised over the last 2 months from making bad trades and have quit and now we don't have the same volume anymore. We still got those Institute and blah blah blah money still into it, but we lost about 25% of the cash that was flowing in and out of these coins. It's gone. Well institutions are still holding. Which means it's mostly just regular people that had the money who served by all these fucking kite, and then quit. Which is why I am loving this GameStop thing that is going on. Even though I don't do that cuz I don't trade with anything that I can't get off coinbase Pro. I even put my link in BMT into a metamask wallet and tried to get that to work so I can stake the coins like everybody was telling me to do but nobody would tell me exactly how to do it, and the process stopped at a point where metamask kept having to be installed because the bank or app kept saying it needed it when it was already installed. So then I was like fuck it I'm getting my shit back into coinbase this is a bunch of fucking stupid shit, and then it says I need a theory I'm to send it back. So that I had to go buy a theory and send it to metamask, to get my shit back out. That was my first time that I have dealt with these gasoline fees people are talking about and it's bullshit. This whole process is just so used to money from people. That's it it's all just some giant Casino. But instead of the Indians owning it it's the Jews. And I'm starting to ramps when I meant to just ask a question... And I forget exactly what that question was
