So here is a method I generally do when I don't want to necessarily FOMO if a coin is reaching an ATH (daily, weekly, etc..)

I'll decide how much % of my total BTC I am willing to use to buy in now. I then set a buy limit-order incrementally lower. This way, if it happens to trend higher overnight I don't miss out and don't wake up pissed. Otherwise, I'll have offset my buy-in from planned dip limit orders.

I'll usually do a 50% now, and then 25% at 10% lower and 25% at 15-25% lower.

Not really, I'm on the cusp of real profit, and I'd be far into the green if i was a better trader. As a learning experience, I'd say I didn't do too bad. Learned an assload about crypto, and markets in general.

Daytrading is pretty easy on ANS but don't make the mistake on assuming it's necessarily going to go on a reverse trend. There is a lot of excitement around that coin and it seems pretty inevitable it's going to reach the 15 in coming weeks and much more in case of big news.

You buy your coins on an exchange; Gemini, GDAX/Coinbase, maybe Kraken - you open up a site on an exchange like Bittrex, do the set-up/identity process shit, then go to wallets, click on BTC to get the address, go to the exchange you're on, and click "transfer/deposit" or whatever, then select "another BTC address" as the destination, and you copy and paste the address the altcoin exchange gave you. I suggest you brush up on a lot of reading before you do anything.
