Assuming the bears capitulate, then there most likely will be a massive dump back down to FMV-ish prices, but I doubt it's going below $20 anytime soon. This could add liquidity to the company, and help them to pivot into digital sales. The pure value claims and growth potential of this stock aren't some short-squeeze voodoo. It was clearly, clearly undervalued <$10. Have we even seen earnings from holiday console sales? They were supposedly record-setting across the entire industry.

Their new stores and business model is comfy. Retro Vidya hangout spots with snacks and shit. I think they'll do good with this model + online game sales, pc gaming is an obvious next step. I'd bring it up on our next stock holder call.

i used to hate gamestop because of those gameinformer ads they'd have playing constantly, even though i'd feel a lot of nostalgia if i heard one now. if they made the space more accommodating, as well as a place to meet people/hang out they could do great

Retro gaming only appeals to a few neckbeards.

I get the pivot. My local vape shop that has a couch and console set up.
But that gamestop has boring corporate vibes, not set up for passing controllers with the homies.
Their aesthetic has always been targeted at the parents that actually pay for the plastic discs. If anything they want customers out of there as soon as possible.

But hey, my local record store is still open and there's always a few customers digging through the crates.

Every game store that isn't gamestop is heavy into the retro games. It depends on how it's executed, I get it. But the pivot is recognition that their current business model doesn't work anymore. The fact that the company can admit that and DO SOMETHING with that knowledge instead of blaming the customers is a good sign.

Corporate influence isn't necessarily a bad thing. It opens the doors for other companies to do business with them, like Nintendo hosting official Smash Bro's tournaments across the US, or having Magic The Gathering official games, Playstation VR pop up experiences, etc.

It's easier for a company to make a commitment to an established brand like GameStop than to host an event in some sketchy ma and pa basement.

It has potential to do interesting things with a new business model. Whether they will go that far or not is to be seen. I'm hoping this will breathe a second wind into GameStop. As much as we hate their shenanigans, they're all that's left of videogame stores.

Toy's R Us was killed (research that, it was bought on a loan, that the newly acquired company had to pay, and went under from the obscene debt), I want atleast something I enjoyed from my childhood for my kids to enjoy too.
