It is live.

It's the first time i've programmed a websocket, and i really expect it to have memory leaks, so please help me test it (logging in and drawing some charts is enough).

Keep in mind that MintPal updates their data consistently in 10min periods (20:00, 20:10, ..., 20:50, 21:00, ...), and it will be available as soon as the worker crawls your pairs (Mintpal asked not to overload their APIs, and my humble VPS can't handle much more than this).

Now, I have a couple of questions:

2. Can comebody point me to a good tutorial for bloody git?

Not really. Doge is gaining millions of coins every day and is being resilient. The price it had before was a bubble, it was stable around 50 before the halving, and is now stable around 100. It's perfectly fine. If it was any higher then it would be way out of proportion in terms of mining profitability.

In the real world the absolute majority of people haven't heard about any of these shitcoins including Dogecoin and Litecoin. Most have heard about Bitcoins, but only have a very limited understanding of what it is. Business newspapers regard and propagate Bitcoins as being highly volatile, too high-risk and currently dying. As for Dogecoin: It isn't done it hasn't been a thing (yet?).

Please do cash out your $50 investment in mining because you didn't become a millionaire in 4 months and because people aren't working towards making your rich.

Maybe you should switch to Litecoin and not waste your time on these threads because those people share your opinion of what a coin should be like whereas the driving force in Doge will never share your opinion no matter how many butt-devastated comments you write.

I was only using put money into it in the context of exchanging very useful fiat for dogecoin.

If transaction times and lower fees were enough of an incentive for people to exchange their fiat for dogecoin, then there would be much more widespread adoption. If Dogecoin built a better USD, then people would come to it.

Again, why would it gain acceptance?

In my opinion, since dogecoin has many of the same basics of fiat (inflation forever being the biggest), there is no real reason to convert USD into Doge then immediately spend it on something that you could directly buy with USD in the first place. To gain widespread adoption, Doge would have to offer a big incentive for people to switch, whether that's items/services offered exclusively for doge, large discounts for using doge, etc.

Currencies are used for trade and not for hording, a slight inflation is a good thing because it discourages hording of the coins and encourages spending and flow of the currency.

However it's low enough that it doesn't really hurt the average user with a moderate amount of coins and who keeps them moving.

Most of the arguments against doge are basically arguments against all crypto currencies and the simple fact is that bitcoin is now mainstream so these arguments are moot, we've seen it can succeed.

No one has to switch currencies, with it all being digital it will fast become trivial to switch between currencies as payout methods for stores and it really won't matter what currency you want to use, in a similar way right now you don't worry about the currency you pay in when you use a paypal account.

We just need to wait for financial institutions to catch up with currencies and start producing safe/secure products designed for greater convenience when shopping with cryptocoins

>The currency for the average person is fiat, there is no incentive for people to convert from fiat to cryptofiat

Actually there's a MASSIVE incentive, because a lot of the major currencies including the dollar are positioned for a huge crash, the US govt is inflating the crap out of the dollar by basically printing money and devaluing the whole currency, the public have no say over this it's just happening to "save the economy"

We already have people like Peter Schiff working on financial institutions which are backed by precious metals like gold/silver because they genuinely believe like most of their customers do, that there will be a huge devaling of the dollar and other currencies in the near future.

Depending on the stability of crypto currency, we may see people use that as a way to avoid losing a lot of money when hyper inflation kicks in.

Having a currency whos supply is fixed and known and cannot be modified by government is extremely massive incentive to anyone with a bit of knowledge in economics and finance.

Yeah and it's a good thing the rollout of the currency is over such a long period of time, for the currency to be successful it has to be introduced into the world slowly and as evenly as possible. Having just a handful of very rich millionaires as the basis for starting the currency is very bad, steady growth with many investors (which bad for making money) is a great way to keep the currency healthy and evenly distributed among the population.

If you can mine and establish the currency in just a few months then it'd be a failure.

Since it's serious business(tm), they trade with thought (and learn to do that, and teach to do that). They plan. There is no such thing as panic buying or panic selling. ADHD types are kicked out fast.

While there are some minor differneces, the same principles apply to cryptos. Lurk some in the forex thread, you'll be a better crypto trader (if trading is your thing).

You can merge the change directly from http://git.bamboohouse.info/pandacoin-official/pandacoin/commit/ee0300 as well as this one will have some issues with the trailing spaces I removed in my files.
There are two places that need to be changed for the targeted block: BlockReading->nHeight > 71000.
You'll probably want to set it lower than 71000.

The lack of a hard cap is a non-issue. Since the coin minting is set at a constant 5 billion per year, the rate of inflation decreases year-on-year until it's nearly nothing. It's only in the first year, I think, that Doge inflation is higher than USD. On top of that, Doge halves so fast that even with no hard cap, the rate of Doge inflation will be lower than the rate of Bitcoin inflation for quite a while, since Bitcoin is still at the upper end of its block reward curve. Bitcoin won't be deflationary until 2140.

Merged mining will ensure the life of Dogecoin.
Doge needs to increase x20 in value to incentivize mining once the soft-cap is reached. This is with NO increase in LTC price.

I can see the Litecoin network getting MUCH stronger than Dogecoin once ASICs begin to roll out. Merged mining will ensure no 51% attacks on the dogecoin network will be possible.
