If someone sells a bitcoin, where does that go? Into thin air? Up your bum bum? No, it goes into the wallet of the person who bought it. For each person that SELLS, someone else has to BUY. The rate at which coins are sold is exactly the same as the rate at which they are bought.

The idea is when the bars are green, there is more demand, so the prices are driven up, and when the bars are red, sellers control the market so they dump their coins and drive prices down.

Fix'd

Yes, imagine a 13th century auction house with 1.3 million auctioneers. Everyone just wants to make a buck. People will bid what they think is appropriate, people selling will ask for what they think is appropriate. When more people see value in that thing, they’ll be bidding higher and higher with the sellers asking higher and higher, the net result is you will see green line go up. When less people see value in something, they will bid less and less, the sellers will ask for less and less, the net result is red line go down. That’s a typical trading day.
Add in factors like news reports, seeing a distinguished auctioneer placing a large order (institutions) to either sell or buy and you get to see why line go up and down throughout day.
