HOWD YA DO TODAY BOYZ
I'm pumped. First, I kneel to any of you GME boyz, ESPECIALLY ones from march or so. Wow you guys truly are the diamond hands. Hope you sold the top.
I'm feeling great, finally broke 70K (transferred another 2k in, so 73k tomorrow). I hope to be at 100K in the next couple months, asssuming there isn't another tank... if so, oh well, I'll just buy the dip.

Hey anons I've been avoiding /smg/ for a couple months because I was satisfied with my portfolio and didn't want to risk being tempted into selling a good position to buy into a meme.
I'm sick of waiting on RKT and BABA to do anything. They're the only losers in my portfolio which is otherwise doing ok (UTZ, AAPL) or spectacular (EMAN, PBW, MSOS).
I'm thinking of selling RKT and BABA for a loss. What should I buy next? I hear BB is the meme of the day.

Also, congrats to my GMEchads. I bought at 8 and sold at 20, but I'm glad to see the iron hands are now rich!

Boomer stocks don't move either way during bull markets, they pay dividends (very weak shit) in exchange. However, they tank HAAAARD when anything even remotely red for a market shows up and NEVER fucking recover. They also cut their divvies "temporarily" and usually don't restore them for years after the crash when that happens. The reason they're boomer stocks is that boomers are dumb.

This could take months, years or never even happen. Look at the bull run after Mar 2020 when covid got serious. We are still riding that wave but those who sold that day are fucked. But they may have been more fucked if the crash kept going. It's hard to predict.

As long as you are diversified I will say, realistically, yes, because there are mechanisms built into the stock market to prevent people being blind-sided catastrophic wipeouts. When markets crashed in March it happened over several days because the huge losses kept triggering circuit breakers.

The money doesn't "go away". When you own stock you dont have money, you have stock. Unless the company dissolves you have the same amount of stock.
Typically it drops quickly, and if you miss the drop your choice is "do I sell now for a loss" vs "do I hold this stock for a while". The losses aren't realized until you make a trade.

If a stock goes 2x and then drops 1/2x to its original value and you just hold through it, nothing happened to your money.

Now if your question is, "can I sell before it's too late and I'm stuck holding low value stocks" the answer is, you will probably not be fast enough. Set up a stop loss, or prepare yourself psychologically to hold stocks that look red. They'll be green again eventually, just as long as you don't panic. But based on the way you are asking these questions you don't know what you're doing. Either do research, or buy into a broad ETF and dont look at it for 10 years. Those are your options brainlet.

Watch peter lynch videos and learn to read SEC filings and financial reports, understand Market Cap, P/E, Debt/Equity and then figure out the other indicators that you respond to. Not necessarily precisely, but I do have several arguments in mind for why it's underpriced before I buy, and I set some sort a target price range. Buying just because something is cheap is a bit foolish if there's no reason why you think it should be more expensive

For example I bought GME at 8 dollars, and my reasoning was the potential of the short squeeze and Cohen's involvement. Obviously it doubled many times over, but I didn't sell because nothing about my initial argument fundamentally changed. The squeeze was still as likely to happen, nothing was different, the price was just higher. But I did lighten my load today considerably

It's basically true, but boomer investing usually involves selecting stocks that have specific attributes (such stocks can be called boomer stocks in that context, surely). Dividends + no vola is usually the basic criteria, otherwise very long-standing blue chips especially in 'classical' industries ("too big to fail" and "I worked in this factory before!" effects).
