It was shilled with people trying to link it to swift and bank payments mostly while others fudded it extremely hard. To be honest, there's more evidence for rubic being a legitimate project than there was link at the earliest days. There was zero product and zero communication from the team. At the time, the team consisted of Rory, Steve, and Sergey. Thomas came a little later. For most of 2018 these guys had disappeared and there was actually reason to believe that Sergey was backpacking south east asia. Continuing to hold was akin to religion. I wanted to stick around but I had to make a hard decision in life. I had debts to pay off so I could move on and everyone in my life was urging me to let go of the Chainlink fantasy. I succumbed after a year and a half. I'd be a multi millionaire today. Nulinkers have no clue how fucking good they have it made. Didn't bother reading all above just chucking in my few cents.
In my opinion, what we've seen last couple days is very close. But the think with link was that it went on for ages.
I started lurkin in August 2017 and saw so many link threads. I pretty much ignored every single one because they were so numerous. Probably similar to many people about rubic. I just thought chink was a scam coin that was shilled non stop. The FUD back then was almost as strong as the shills. I remember people trying to track down sergys address and showing it was litterally just a PO box etc. FUD saying saying sergy is just a fat burger etc. All fucking funny looking back now.

But yes at the time, it seemed the community was split 50/50. A lot of biz got in on link at the ICO so dirty cheap prices so they were always gonna shill the shit out of it.

Only a few posts actually had any substance, i.e talking about oracles and smart contract. The rest were just memes.

So in conclusion, if this RBC shit keeps up (which it may well do because Biz just bought out the fucking coin), then like with Link, I can see it being non stop shilled for a few more months. Then if that's the case then we may be onto something!

Also like link, it's got a fucking great use case. Cross chain dex swapping, i.e. trading litterally ANY coin with another is something we need more than anything...

>> No.26323734

Kind of, there was a lot more excitement. People would constantly refer to missing the Eth boat and Chainlink being the last chance to make it. There was a lot more faith in the whitepaper and science and what purpose it would actually serve in crypto. Obviously RBC is set to do well, but LINK was spoken about as being revolutionary to all of the crypto space. Also the original link memes were fucking gold, now they're just all rehashes. Still got a 15k bag of RBC tho, fuck it.

>> No.26323772

It was autistically debated for about six months after the white paper came out, then fortuitous numbers and memes kept it going for years. It was nothing like the forced spamming of rubic. Chainlinkgod isn’t even an og. He bought in in 2018, and he’s a zoomed still in college who just took all the info the big brains dropped and started spewing it on Twitter. He’s done good for the community, but he still made a stupid social media account to get the dopamine hits and “networking”.

He isn’t even on the same planet as Assblaster was.

I'm still not understanding how this simple fact - that it's a cross-chain swap application - isn't beating all the FUD. Sure, we don't know how well it will work yet, but the simple fact that it is being promised is call for huge speculation.

I don't see any Rubic copypastas, I don't see anything about Rubic's founders, I don't see loads of Rubic FUD, I don't see an equivalent of 4IR hype, it's not the same at all IMO

I have been on this board for years and it unironically feels like PNK is the next LINK. It's got that mixture of a unique and vital use, case along with a distinct meme culture produced by its loyal followers. In kleros threads, real OC is made by seriously high IQ anons, most other coin threads are just moonboys shitposting at this point. What's more the project is hardly known outside of biz (check twitter/Reddit you will see fuck all) and big players in the space (eg vitalik, Colin rule). comfy

Naw, this is just your typical flavor of the week that ppl will forget about soon.

The first LINK threads were like "if this product actually works out, it can be massive". The space was filled with less traders and more speculative tech-minded people back then, for better or worse.

This is complete bullshit. Biz did and still does astroturf reddit to price them out of link. You can see it for yourself literally right now on the grayscale link post on r/cryptocurrency, it's full of sibos teir toilet and bigmac fud. Here's your (you)

A group of /biz/ people pooled money to get into the presale for link and then started a heavy shilling campaign. It resonated with /biz/ and they adopted it as /ourcoin/.
What you see here is similar, yes. /biz/ owns a huge chunk of the supply now so it's similar to them having big cheap bags from pooling for a presale.
