You're a fucking idiot. The reason sia will never be worth anything isn't because it isn't a good idea and doesn't have great tech but because it's not a store of value. "OH FREE DATA!". Google can do that for like $5. And they don't have to worry about chinks destroying their prices.

>> No.2625532

>>2625508
You are stupid.
The data is broken across a decentralized network rather than on a centralized service/server. Also, it's much cheaper, look at their website price comparison.
I don't own SIA but I think it's good tech,

I agree. Sia can't be used by major corporations due to security policies and normies bum off free storage. There's no market. Also I think most people that invest in Sia are pseudo-intellectuals AKA retarded.

Sysadmin here. No it won't. Ain't touching that shit for production use. If there's a lapse in client uptime and contract expiry, all data is unlinked. No admin with an 8th of a brain would use that. Slim chance but the result far outweighs the chance of it fucking everything up. MAYBE for backup redundancy, but why the fuck pay more money when the redundancy is taken care of completely by AWS? But don't get me wrong, it'll be great for my porn and tv shows for my crappy little server at home. Can't wait for streaming to get integrated. Shit'll be off the hool.

i am a network security expert, we categorize cloud storage as an unsecure platform and only use it for VM's and as it has continued to prove itself as secure without incidents we going for app developments and quality assurances on it.
I don't see we using fog computing any time soon in next 5 years even if it's much cheaper.

maybe you'll find some small/upstart companies willing to try who don't have much sensitive data once sia had storage in petabytes and can offer 100's of Tb's to these upstart/small companies.

>just because it's secure and it's much cheaper
those comments are laughable to an similar engineers in my position.
i am not sure about small companies but my work experience is in fortune 500 companies only and we look at all the following factors.
scalability, reliability, availability, performance, and security.
even if the information security standards team give a green light, the managerial & legal departments won't until they have all the documentations processed and there is a liable third party for any incidents.
which will never be the case as sia is not liable for the contents uploaded on their network

tfw want to buy into some sia cause i see it atleast hitting 700-750 sats in the near future but i literally refuse to sell anything else for a loss. am i doing this right?

>> No.2629472

>>2629442

Sorta. Selling at a loss is for chumps, but sometimes it works out. Like when I sold my Ripple at 12k and 11k for more SC at ~300-500 sats.

Ripple only continued to go down, while SC ended up going big. What I should have done was sold more SC @ 800 and then bought back into Ripple during today's dip, but you can't really predict all that.

There is no liable third party.
Again, once sia is shown to be unhackable, more reliable than Amazon, cheaper and more secure, there will not be an issue.

The purpose of sia is that there is no third party liability in any way. All there is left is fearmogering through speculation.

We'll see how it plays out in 2-4 years.
