these people try too hard to understand what is going on. the market is a crazy complex system of feedback loops. you'll rarely, if ever, see direct cause and effect take place.
i had a redditor friend who tries so hard to understand why everything worked the way it did. he ended up selling his BTC in 2020 to renovate his house and now he's a salty sap. he sold his LINK after i told him i sold, too (i didnt actually sell, was just doing opsec because he knew i had LINK.)

>also be me, shitpost on r/cryptocurrency

>sell it all at 1 cent.
>literally watch it moon to 21 cents 2 days later
>eth was 300 bucks at that time, could have had an extra 20 eth if I sold at the top.

I bought like 30 prostitutes over the course of a couple years when I was working out of town and flying back and forth between my city and the place I was working at every 3 weeks for 1 week time off. I never even had problem getting girls on my own, prostitutes were just way easier and left after an hour.

I probably spent over $10k on prostitutes, which in retrospect was pretty stupid because this was in 2016 and it probably ended up costing me well over $100k in opportunity cost

>> No.26280924

Actually, now that I think about it, it was probably closer to 60 or 70 prostitutes most likely costing $20-30k... The moral is, I spent a lot of fucking money on whores, and I'm not really proud of it.

All you have to do is hold. Just look for a coin that has a strong use case, team is known, updating people, getting involved within the space, and fixes a problem that you see in society. If you can't trust yourself to do this and make the right judgements. You should've be investing and should remain a wageslave because you can't think outside the box. It's good to lose because you'll change the way you approach things and not fall into some flowchart formula shit.

>> No.26281951

Worst was buying Valeant too early and not continuing to buy to the bottom, then failing to sell BHC in January when I finally made a paper profit. Second worst was holding PCG too long and only selling out at 12.85 almost a year later.

I also blew a grand on playing with options but that was gambling so I'm not too worried about it. Other than that, I've never had a loss and everything I own is well into the green. Value investing fucking rocks.

Buying a house.
The asset is illiquid as fuck.
You lose money on commission if you have to sell quickly.
Not all of the cost of upgrading the places comes out in the selling price.
I bought my first home a couple months before COVID, got fired in summer, had to change cities for my new job, paid 2 housing payments for 6 months, and I'm taking a loss after commission because I held it for less than a year.
Now I am spooked and value flexibility above all else; never setting roots again.
It makes me not even want to buy furniture in case I have to deal with moving it, I only want to buy lightweight and modular things that I can take apart and move myself.

Bought 100 Eth at 6$, it hit 12 then dumped to 8$ and I sold and never bought back in.
Around the same time, I had 1btc worth $400 as my uni friend who was into crypto insisted on giving me gas money in btc.
Now I'm in 3 figure hell wishing I could turn back the clock.
I also had .5 btc that I sold at ath in 2018 to pay of my overdraft, and never bought back in during the last 3 years of dip.
I swear once this bull market crashes I'm going to accum weekly forever, I just hope I'm not priced out.

I read The Intelligent Investor and followed the advice. I do my research, wait for something to be underpriced, and then buy in. I spent two years autistically researching the oil industry so when the oil crash happened in March I picked up a bunch of really good oil stocks and made between 75-300% gains on everything. I then diversified into a bunch of blue chips later that are all 5-70% green, not as good as muh oil but it's okay. I'm selling it all after a year for long term capital gains tax and then I'm going to buy more crypto. Getting gains in crypto is easy: buy bitcoin and wait.

yeah, b/c his opportunity cost was so much higher on the small gain. i've lost a few K on things that were scams or rugs - but those weren't nearly as bad of decisions as the opportunity cost of selling 30k prq too early (30k * $1.5 usd rn for me - and that is likely to be much, much more in the future)
