Normally you would expect 0.5 to be the mid line since the maximum value is 1 and the minimum value is 0 but reality doesn't seem to agree with that.
Relatively high values are supposed to indicate dark pool buying while relatively low values show selling. The wiggly line of the first scrip is the daily ratio. The smoother line is the volume weighted average. In my experience relatively high values need about 3-10 days to show an influence on the chart. The influence is usually subtle though. I don't really use the average at all. If you have an uptrend but it's currently dipping while the dark pool ratio is starting to print high values you should maybe consider opening a swing position. Things like that. Combine it with other things. I made the second script because the ratio doesn't tell you anything about the actual volume. Check GME for example. There's a green spike in late July. Something like that is suspicious, especially because the selling volume is in line with the the rest of the days. It's the buying volume that sticks out. Tendentially selling will automatically come in when the price goes up without news or anything like that. You have to learn how to filter that out. This indicator only shows you how much buying and selling was going on. It doesn't mean that the price will therefore go up or that that's the bottom. It also doesn't account for option hedging or similar. 2020 was the first year when option hedging volume surpassed normal volume.
