I think I'd need to have my house paid off, and have a decent amount in the bank, in addition to my STA holdings. I'd just want some level of protection in case of another multi-year bear market in crypto
So for my long-term plan I'm thinking this: Once STA hits a sufficient price point ($1 - $2 range should be fine) I'll pool into Stanos. At this point I'll start pulling out the fees I collect monthly, and convert them to USD. From that money, save a portion for taxes, and put the rest toward my mortgage. Once my mortgage is paid off, start putting that money into a savings account. Once that account reaches a sufficient number, quit my job and sail off into the sunset

The ETH gas fees are so high right now that pooling 1k isn't wise. If I were you I'd hold for now. Regarding the question of when - if you think STA is about to pump you'd move to a pool with a lot of STA in it so you get maximum "exposure" to the pump (this pool's called Infinity) - if you think STA's going to crab or decline then you'd move your STA to one of the pools with coins you think will do better (in the pool named Stanos for example, there is a mix of BTC, ETH, LINK, SNX and STA.) There are a number of pools to choose from at the moment and more will be coming online as STA grows.

The biggest reason that I'm bullish on Statera is that there's actually value accrue to the token. There are many projects (e.g. UNI) where the token is only needed for governance and there's no value accrue, but STA is different, because it captures value and you can still speculate on it.
