It's really a matter of percentages but also the eth gas costs will be the biggest determinate. In terms of percentages you can double every 4 years. But the weather gas cost can lock you into a shit index for longer than you like if you have a small stack. You could probably expect about 2.5 tokens a day. Do the math based on what gas is to see how long it would take to break even. Probably a couple of months.

Yup. It compounds. Any GRT earned get added back to your stack in the delegation thus increasing your reward. The only thing to consider is that your reward is a proportion of your total ownership of the whole index. So if everyone sticks around same as you, you might not increase your reward totals. As in if 5k gets you 2.5 today it might still get you 2.5 at 10k. But it's possible that the way indexes are rewarded might be a function of how big the stack is.

It's not computing that earns reward. It's trust. Proof of stake. The indexers provide a queryable index using their hardware. But because you could fuck up entire markets by providing something like inaccurate pricing data through your api, you want to be a trusted source. You do this by having 100k of your own tokens (minimum) at risk as well as the support of other delegators to say "yeah I trust this source". If they find out an indexer is fucking around, they can fine their tokens. As an incentive to take on the cost of hosting an index (like 8k in hardware alone if you go bargain bin) they reward you tokens. They say it's 3% annual inflation. The total an indexer gets is proportional to their size in relation to the whole.
