Maps are just rote memorization so I don't know why people are so proud of them. I didn't know where a lot of shit was until I traveled a lot after college. I'm still vague on some regions and it's entertaining when people from them can't believe I don't know where x city is or whatever. It reminds me of people from California that think everyone knows where their favorite taco stand is, or when people outside the USA are enraged they had to memorize all 50 states and I don't know their provinces.
