Cf. Alasdair Macleod: "The progression of annualised monetary inflation from under 6% before the Lehman crisis, to 9.6% subsequently until March this year, and 65% in the thirty weeks since is clear from the chart." You can also see this inflation exactly reflected in the price of food and commodities (zinc, copper, silver, oil, etc.). And we're going to need another 5 trillion in Q. E. soon to get this ten-year yield under control.

Another interesting thing to point out in relation to this is that, two years before 1950, Howard Buffett predicted exactly where we have ended up today. He said that fiat money would inevitably result in a totalitarian welfare-warfare state (one with "foreign war and ruthless regimentation.")

-

"Unless you are willing to surrender your children and your country to galloping inflation, war and slavery, then the cause of gold demands your support. For if human liberty is to survive in America, we must win the battle to restore honest money.

I have not time to portray the end of the road of all paper money experiments. It is worse than just the high prices that you have heard about. Monetary chaos was followed in Germany by a Hitler; in Russia by all-out Bolshevism; and in other nations by more or less tyranny. It can take a nation to communism without external influences.

The gold standard acted as a silent watchdog to prevent unlimited public spending.

The paper money disease has been a pleasant habit thus far and will not be dropped voluntarily any more than a dope user will without a struggle give up narcotics. But in each case the end of the road is not a desirable prospect.
Because of our economic strength the paper money disease here may take many years to run its course. But we can be approaching the critical stage. When that day arrives, our political rulers will probably find that foreign war and ruthless regimentation is the cunning alternative to domestic strife.

When you find that Lenin declared and demonstrated that a sure way to overturn the existing social order and bring about communism was by printing press paper money, then again you are impressed with the possibility of a relationship between a gold-backed money and human freedom."

Markets are fucked in general. I don't like where this is going. All of a sudden you can't get parts for ANYTHING. I was trying to find a blade replacement for a meet slicer yesterday, you literally can't find the part. All you can do is buy an entirely new unit. I was also looking for a vacuum cleaner air filter a while ago. Couldn't get parts for that either, I was able to get knock odds though. These companies are ridiculous. They build things and then don't sell any replacement parts, they just expect you to buy new every so often. They cut corners on manufacturing so you get a broken piece of shit, and then now we're at the point where other companies don't offer customer support AT ALL. I had a dispute with coin base and ebay and cash app a while ago. NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. there's nobody you can call, there's nobody to help you if something gets fucked up. This is absolutely ridiculous and this is why I support gold and silver because fuck all these fucking companies that think they can do jack shit and make record profits!

you can totally do it, getting your P.Geo and doing exploration work for other companies, than going off on your own is the standard for most of these junior explorers and miners. However, you cant really do it alone, you will have to setup a corporate company to get properly operating in different countries. Regulations are different all over the world, concessions versus mining claims etc. To be honest its easier to set up shop in a country like canada, find a project to advance than move on to other countries. Stay the fuck away from africa as a junior, its just too corrupt and bullshit ridden to get anything done in the more interesting territories.

If you want more info I can go deep into this how I got to what I do as a prospector with my little numbered company, I am just busy right now.

Much of this divide is a media fabrication to engender a false impression of societal discord. Most people either a) get along, b) ignore one another, or c) voice disgust for another group to close family members in the comfort of their own home. There is very little outward hatred manifesting in the real world in the US. Don’t buy that narrative. Most people are barely getting by and rightfully focused only on themselves and their families. The US is not fractured socially, but many different parties, including the media, are trying to make it so.

A 5oz or 10oz version is also good if you really like the design. I got the 5oz libertits and it's so much more detailed than the 1oz and you can appreciate it that much more. Next step up for this one is 1kilo tho so I think it's a good compromise.

BTC can be banned. Monero can't. It matters for BTC since dump hedgies never bought into the anti-establishment aspects of crypto. They were just motivated by price action
Monero is going to be how drug warlords pay for weapons overseas. Doesn't matter what the Fed says.

Do you have recommendations on what form of silver to buy? I bought 3 1kg coin bars of silver and 75 1oz coins last year. I was expecting the silver bars to be better value for money but im checking buy/ask prices here (european country) regularly and it seems to be the opposite. The bars have a lower premium on the spot price but the sell value is at least 10% lower than the buy (if you sell at commercial dealers). For coins the premium is higher then bars but the sell value is only like 5% below the cost of buying. So why bother with bars or am i forgetting something? I dont want to sell but why should I pay for bars if the spread is higher and the flexibility is lower?

Yeah that might be true. If the demand for the bars goes up the spread will get smaller. is now a time to buy real estate?
or wait until later this year?
i suspect that even though though the weak economy should reduce demand and push prices lower,...
there will be so much money looking for alternative safe assets to offset this and that real estate will stay the same or increase in price.

anybody else see this as a possible scenario?

>is now a time to buy real estate?
Real estate investor here (albeit small, sub 1.5m NW) -
Short answer is no, long answer is no. Look at the housing price charts of pre-2007 and today and you'll start to see a pattern. The economy is in a delicate balance right now and if the millions people who bought overpriced houses start defaulting on their payments even though those are very low interest loans, we'll see a repeat of the 2008 crisis. The only way around that is to institute UBI or outlaw foreclosures and evictions (again). If inflation starts running rampart and the cost of living goes up, you bet that salaries will not keep pace as they never have kept up with real inflation, and suddenly that $3500 monthly payment on a piece of shit suburban house you bought with nearly no money down becomes more and more difficult to pay even if the government is giving you an extra $600 every couple months.

It might be different depending on markets but in my market (South Florida) the last year prices were sane was 2016 or 2017; since then, things have gone bonkers.

My advice would be to divert whatever money you're saving for a downpayment into a safe store of value, wait until prices adjust and then go for a loan. If your credit is good and you're employed, you won't have much trouble getting a loan; and since the FED can't raise interest rates ever again, you won't be missing out much.

Out of my realm of knowledge, so I can't opine. My best guess is that the prices of rural land didn't suffer the same overevaluation that the major population centers did, so they are likely more dependent on local factors.

>>26175820
Hard to say by how much the prices will drop once we have a correction in the real estate market, but remember that we're living through an "Everything bubble" where major asset classes are at the highest they've ever been. Once one pops, there will be a domino effect no doubt.

Since markets aren't all the same, my suggestion to you is to find a home that you're interested in then load up the county's Property Appraisal website. All the counties where I operate have this easily accessible, so I can see the transaction history for that property, the property taxes and more importantly the assessed property value - what the county uses to calculate your taxes. This is will almost always be under the "Fair market value" of the property, the number you will usually see listed on Zillow or Redfin for example. That's usually a conservative estimate of what the property might cost.

I have a property that I bought in '10 for 32k that's valued today at 270k, with pretty much no improvements done to it besides make it livable (it was a dump before), so that might give you an idea for how bonkers the market currently is.

What do the pmgbros think of antique-stacking? I'd love to possess some 2K year old silver coins, sadly idk anything about this. I went on ebay and i was really surprised by how 'cheap' it was for stuff that old, it's maybe because i'm living in what used to be a roman occupied province for centuries (south of France), but i saw tetradrachms and denarius being auctionned for 25-30 bux with 0 buyers, and the sellers looked very legit..
It there something i'm missing? I thought it would cost way more, i know there was a lot of money minted by romans and greeks, but damn.. it still feel incredibly cheap, no?

There are tons of fake coin sellers on eBay, but plenty of legit dealers too. Always check the fake Ancient Coin sellers lists like http://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=18502.0 for their username and research the coins too. My goal last year was to finally get off my ass and learn Japanese, something I intended to do 15 years ago and was too lazy to start. Actually made decent progress throughout the year, but my mom suddenly passed away from lung cancer mid last year and as the oldest I ended up in charge of the family; it's been a hell of a lesson on the complex workings of the probate and estate system. She had a life insurance policy for me and my two brothers, and that's kind of how I ended up on /pmg/, looking for a way to protect that money from just getting eaten up by inflation and the upcoming turmoil.
Now I'm learning about finance, and digesting as much about miners as possible from you guys because I see it as a one in a lifetime opportunity to escape the rat race.

Pan Man,

What is out there in mining these days for a guy with a BS in geology? I graduated two years ago with almost a 4.0 major GPA but no research or internships. I really should have made more of it when I was in, but I was trying to blast through it. Right after I graduated I got into flying for a living, but that is not a great industry to be in right now so I'm looking at doing something else.

Most of my classmates are working dead end jobs, but most of them have something keeping them tied to a specific region or don't want to be outside.

Is there much out there in mining for someone where I'm at? I've done a fair bit of magnetic survey for a project. I'm also confident that I don't know everything there is to know about field work but I don't mind mapping a bit. I don't mind being wherever either, trying to make shit work overseas is actually kind of fun for a while.

Also, whether I started job hunting now or got a masters does being good with equipment count for anything? I've got plenty of time running dozers and oddball equipment being a farm kid.

Anyone here had a chance to read this?

I've been picking at it when I have time, some wild stories in here.

One story goes that a geology prof was in at totally geologically forgotten area in Canada in the 40s mapping with his students and found some odd garnets and other things. It was so inaccessible that nobody payed much attention to it for years.

Then in the 90s, he's retired and reading his newspaper and sees a story about a new mine right where he had been working.

It turns out to be a fucking kimberlite. In Canada, which apparently nobody really though seriously about when he was in academia.

He dumps his life savings into a small cap that was working there and makes a fortune.

basically theres been a problem where people have been using numbered companies to hold massive amounts of claims and not actually filing any work with them what so ever, instead choosing to pay the work forwards, holding the rights like a property flipper. People complained and so the government is now going to probably force claim holders to actually do some form of physical work on their claims or risk forfeiture to the government. As for which province is better for panning, BC has more gold but also more regulations. Alberta doesnt have a claim system, but you can basically pan where and when you like. BC also doesnt have much open ground right now so you will have to buy a claim off someone, but I do know a lot of different people with good ground willing to sell for reasonable rates. I ll post some links in a bit for you, I want to get started on this 43-101 report.

I'd love to break into that, but its closed up a lot in the last year. It'll open up like crazy though sooner or later, maybe even to the point where a one man show charter operation could do okay. Flying tourists to camps is not doing great because of corona, and air tours were not doing great before that because of a few really terrible preventable crashes with tour planes. My information on the North slope is a little outdated, but Conoco cancelled a lot of their contracts for airplanes, and one of the big charter operators folded. All of that came together to put a lot of qualified pilots on the street looking for work.

Also really before you buy anything, ask permission to view and wander the property yourself, a lot of these guys wont let you, because they know the photos wont match or other bs. These are reasonably priced for a placer claim, but I would have to actually go on the ground to tell you which is best. Do your research on the area and look up what the old timers were looking for, and see if that matches whats being sold here.

As for your other part yes the gov already wants photos of physical work, but they will now want to do a yearly site visit to corroborate you actually did what you say you did. To many people bullshiting reports digging holes in road ditches and such. In BC you can get a claim from the government for $100, but the going rates for interesting land here is around $1500-5k again you have to really do your home work on this, you dont want to buy empty land!

Asked this a few threads ago but didn't get any responses, but what's the general feel around royalty companies?
My LCS recommended going with Royalty companies over mining companies since they don't face the same risks, but they won't offer the same returns.

Would they be a decent hedge against the volatility of miners? He suggested I look into FNV, MTA (Metalla) and NOVRF (Nova Royalty)

FNV is too expensive for me to get a decent position in, so that one might be out of reach. NOVRF mooned this last month.

100oz of AU?
Bump it to no less than 250 oz of silver while you can. Ensure you have both 1oz coins, 1/2 oz coins, and a few 1/4th coins. Most here advise against that, but I bought in extremely cheap on 1/2oz and 1/4th oz silver for personal use if the time arises all the while ensuring having both junk silver and 1 oz bars & coins.

At this point I would say buying full 1oz silver coins is your best bet. The time to buy pure fractional silver has passed. Junk silver with cash paired with pure single ounce silver is the way to go.

Gold simply is measured in silver.
Gold was used only by nobles by the time of Alexander the great and his father philip while backed in liquidity of silver in massive amounts for use of both novels and plebs.

i don't think having a stack goal is smart. it's foolish to think of a set amount when in reality at 29oz (I'm at 21oz) you've already got over $50k worth an asset that will not depreciate, will most likely increase in value and you which you can liquidate immediately.
my goal is to just keep stacking for as long as I am able. work out your expenses, keep a logical amount of cash savings ready to go (for emergencies, repairs, purchases, etc), and then what's left over buy gold with. that's what I've been doing for the past 3 years and it's added up nicely.
gold for me is a inflation check - not a shtf mega epic collapse scenario.

Owning 30 ounces of gold ($55,000 in today's currency) puts you in the top 1% of gold owners and undoubtedly in the top 1% of the world's new financial élite after the reset. At that point better to go with silver, a case where owning only 60 ounces ($1,500) puts you in the top 1% of silver owners. There is a considerable chance that the GSR might return to 1:40 (recent historic trend), 1:15 (historic), 1:8 (mining ratio), 1:3 (Renaissance/mediaeval times) or even 1:1 or 2:1 (ancient Egypt).

y'all do realize. While it's true m1 money supply has been a massive issue. There's been long term calling for down grade on ratings for US bonds. More than a few federal reserves outside of of Washington federal reserve calling a thaw on emergency federal asset binge.

When it's the fourth or fifth budget deadlock with federal services suspended. The first thing they will go after will be private savings accounts. They won't go after gold like FDR did bc it would cause a SHTF moment. And for such an integral and massive economy. This stop gap measure can last for possibly another decade if not more. This is literally doomsday shilling for some ETFs to pump and dump precious metals before the fall off the damn cliff again like they did a year ago. The metals value are also associated with their industrial demand such as Au for semi conductors and chips, Pt for auto manufacturing, Ag for a variety of chemical heavy industry processes, Cu for construction, heavy industries, etc. All of which is going to see a major stagnation as federal stimulus is predicted to tailor off, demand falls flat, sometime the end of this year or beginning of next.

Impossible. Ten-year yield continues to rise, the whole system would collapse and fall to pieces if it got past 1.5% (both the budget and the asset bubbles). At least 5 trillion more in Q. E. necessarily on the way. Banking crisis imminent (many G-SIB equities at less than 30% or even 20% of book value), will requires tens of trillions to bail out. Real unemployment is 40% (ShadowStats), regular trillions in UBI necessary to prevent a violent revolution. Commodities and food are already soaring, money inflation is parabolic. Stagflation is here and will continue to get worse just like the 70s and 80s.

I haven't done the research into the details so can't say definitely, but presumably, yes. The sources which I know only give generic statements like "interest-bearing international bonds, backed by their silver holdings." I always thought of the bonds as being basically a new PM-backed currency, a return to a silver standard where you have silver substitutes which are essentially claim-cheques on the underlying metal. Not directly redeemable into silver like the old ones, but obliged to pay the value of the silver over time in fiat.
