Layer2 are inelegant solutions that will only be adopted by defi because crypto neets are the only people who invest money in technology without understanding it. When the ethereum killers come online even defi will move over to new chains. Honestly that is how im feeling. I've given eth a chance and its performed very well but when I see bitcoin it just makes me fucking sick. All the money I put into eth could have gone to something that actually moons. Ethereum just takes SLOOOOOOOW movements up, which can be disruptive due to the volatility of crypto.
