Yes.
Gold bugs will tell you they are great and they found the secret sauce mining stock but in reality majority of them just crab and the few low cap stocks that get pumped and dumped underperformed compared to other penny stocks or the shittiest shitcoins

Mining stocks are cyclical pump and dump schemes, every professional gold investor and insider will tell you that.

I feel like I got played, desu. I'm in some now which I made some modest gains on, but had I just gone all in on some other stocks I had strong convictions on, I'd be up so much more. I realized this more and more as people in /pmg/ started posting photos of their portfolio and they have a fuck ton of different miners and like $5k total invested. REEEEEE

they kind of are, and kind of aren't. I've seen some pretty good returns on paper over the last year of silver and gold juniors, with shares and calls both. But much of the issues I've had comes with learning how to buy and sell properly. I figure these are valuable lessons, and I'm basically at breakeven over the last 7 months.
The thing is, the thesis of a macro pivot away from risk-on assets to commodities and precious metals makes sense, no matter what way I look at it. It seems like I've been learning how to play in a crazily over manipulated market where long term bullish sentiment keeps me in the game and where I learn how to trust my thesis for 6 months against all evidence to the contrary, losing a few percent a day, and then boom breakout for a few weeks and wow I just 2x'd, and then oh shit, I didn't sell and now the manipulation is back in force.
I'm in this to learn how to speculate effectively, because I believe that will give me the best returns in the long run. I learn the most when I lose. Precious metals and juniors and all that offers significant opportunities for both, and I'm learning to be much, much more conservative and long-term than I was with crypto. Really important stuff; I believe this year, though my portfolio is down (let me check), yeah, down 10% on the day, will be a great year, and that I've been really blessed to have the experiences over the last year that have come with the metals market. Dudes, so much learning, it's great.

when the (((banks))) control the gold and silver markets, it's a bit hard to get the edge up on them, now is it? I guess "trading" these stocks makes more sense than buying and holding.

Yes, the Banks are in control of PMs, and weaponize it against the government. That's one of the greatest secrets people don't understand, and actually another reason I'm bullish on the price going up much higher this decade.

Right now the European Central Banks are challenging the London Exchange (and by extension the Comex) on the validity of their Gold supply, and were granted a extension to 2023 to audit themselves.

bullshit's always free.
Two major factors currently drive gold & silver markets, and commodities only deal with one of these: 1) near-state market makers dictating sell pressure to the market, and 2) supply cliff.
If you play in the first, you trade. If you play in the second, you hold. These are not mutually exclusive options. After about a year, the timing of number 1 has become somewhat predictable just because of its inevitability. There's a retard huge short position getting dropped 1x/month, and usually some nonsense from the gov't that the market takes as a sign 1x/month. Between these, the gains of 3 weeks of continuing buy pressure are almost entirely erased. Buy some calls after the red dildos when IV takes a breather, sell after a couple weeks before the next retard run.
If I'm right this time around, I make 2x by valentine's day. If I'm wrong, I lose what I've allocated to options. The profits go to increase cash holdings and stock.
