For the record, this will go up considerably in supply - they plan on having a total of 21 million in circulation.

The value of the coin is how much it'll pay out to the data scientists using it. Last time I checked this was capped at $54k a year per participant. I presume that value will go up but remember that if more staked coins = taken more seriously by the machine learning, no one is going to spend $50k for 50 coins unless the payout increases significantly, which could be a detriment to the hedge fund at its core.

As I said, they plan on making 21 million of these and will dilute as they see fit to keep the price reasonable. If, to have a 'more successful' stake as the machine develops, you need 50 NMR and NMR is at $1000 a coin (and you have none), it wouldn't be in your best interests to buy the coin as the current reward is capped at $54k a year per scientist.

This is all 'ifs' right now, but everyone who would be using these tokens got 1 million split between them a few months ago. If they need more they'll buy them, but people seem to think hedge fund = loads of money; which is true, but not for the coin.
