Unironically the landlords should probably stop begging for any more government intervention, but boomers love sucking on the federal tit so we know that won't happen. You know what happens if mass swaths of the renting population suddenly can't make their rent payments at the same time? It means that landlords must decrease their rent rates or voluntarily suspend payments, because there isn't a surplus of potential renters just waiting to swoop in the middle of a typical lease contract term and take over the lease. When a debt collector can't get the full amount he comes to an arrangement for a partial payment, because some money is better than no money. But this is hurtful to the childlike pride of the boomer so he doesn't get why he has to man up and eat an economic loss for the first time in his life, at 69 years old.

Of all the mortgages in the USA, over 55% of the mortgages in America are held by 1/3 of the debtors.
