The fact that gold doesnt get lost like bitcoin is actually a bad thing. Estimates are 1500 BTC are lost per day which is greater than the number mined. If you’re smart enough to not lose your BTC, everyone else losing BTC is good for you.

>> No.25991457

Thats fantastic news, and is basically what I was expecting from my own experience out there. I knew that glacier was hiding more surface showings, add this as well as blue berry zone and scottie is really looking good for the future. Eric Sprott thinks the same, he buys into companies for the long haul and builds them up into either operating projects or ones that will find a long term partner.

If your totally green to this follow the big companies and than learn how they work, than look into juniors, as they are insanely volatile.

People tell me that it is retarded to store gold offshore but frankly I trust Singapore to not blatantly violate property rights as that is the only thing that makes their jurisdiction a jewel in the otherwise shit-covered geography that is south east asia.

With that being said, I have around 7 ounces of gold and 45 ounces of silver. What should I purchase next to protect my purchasing power? Thinking of ordering a monster box of silver Britannias and shipping it to where I am located as a failsafe in case I can't get the gold couriered from Singapore.

>> No.25994865

>>25992115
Depends on your thesis and timeline. I believe precious metals in general will see another 25%-100% rise this year. However, there are regular and non-trivial downturns in the market, and those are good times to buy. The general starting stack is getting 100 ounces of silver, then an ounce of gold. That's about 4k right there. Don't do what I did and drop 20k on an overpriced afternoon during a seasonal high. I prefer silver kilos now, though I started with 10 oz bars, which are both highly efficient ways to stack.
As of this last red wick a week ago, I've set an alert to go off every time there's a 2%-5% drop, and then, if I want physical, pick up 10 oz or a kilo from jmbullion with BTC. If I want paper, I'll pick up some shares on a miner, like DSVMF, ESKAY, AG, HL, FSM, etc. I have enough paper bullion.
If I'm picking up calls on juniors, SLV, SILJ, or the gold analogues, once there are at least two consecutive red wicks and buy/sell pressure equalizes, I'll pick up a 3-6 month call to appreciate over the next couple weeks of recovery and sell ideally before the next dildo comes down. If my timing is off, I can still hold and I'm only out some theta before giving it another go. In theory, it's easy money. In practice, it's a little tricky, though totally doable. It's like swinging BTC/LTC.
This red dildo shows up at least once a month, and people like to blame JPM. JPM no longer holds a net short position and this is coming from HSBC, Scotia, etc. Price goes up 6% over a couple weeks, then boom 4% red dildo in a single day, rinse and repeat. No reason to spend more than you need to.
I believe this will continue until August/Sep this year, like it does every year for the past 4 decades. Seasonality is real. DCA during downturns throughout Q1 and Q2, and if you have paper, sell late Q3 and you won't be caught bagholding for 6 months waiting for prices to recover.

If you're wanting to complete the set of Silver coins from Fascist countries, you'll want a 1966 Spanish 100 Pesetas, they were minted in 80% Silver from 1966-1970, all dated 1966.
Italy also minted a Silver 5 leke coin for Albania when they were in control there, those can be somewhat hard to find, but are within your price range.

>just slice the pizza into more slices and you have more pizza
Divisibility is necessary for currency, but it doesn't fix this problem. Consider the case of any collectible like a stradivarius violin. More cannot be made given the uniqueness of its construction and craftsmanship. Over time these violins may be damaged, destroyed, or lost and the result is that the remaining set can only become more and more valuable.
You can't make a currency out of those violins. They aren't divisible, which is one problem. You can't just have a part of the violin and keep the value of the wholes. But the other problem is its limited supply. No one would ever want to use it as a means to transfer value or purchase goods or services.
All crypto can be divisible. Not all of them have good solutions to the deflationary aspect of a fixed supply.

surprised to see arguments against "deflationary" currency here. It's supposed to be a store of value. The supply and demand for money is controlled by interest rates; eventually rates would find a level where you don't want to hold on any longer, because you'd rather lend it out. A currency can be both non-fiat and non-deflationary. A deflationary currency just encourages hoarding and then it ceases to exist to serve any use as a possible currency. It is even worse because there is no real way to tell which wallets are just whales that are holding or are wallets that have been lost forever. And even more problematic because of the increasing energy use and longer times to process transactions.
There are hundreds of other cryptocurrencies and tokens out there and a lot of them deal with a lot of these limitations. BTC is brand name when its actual underlying technology is identical to Dogecoin and BSV. BSV even SHARES part of the same ledger. That is just silly.

>that does not seem efficient or productive enough to actually work long term
the only really efficient method is to crush the serpentine to sand and then flood it with a CO2 rich solution. Presumably the milling process will get it to the necessary size, but then they need to produce a CO2 solution which is expensive and a pain in the ass to monitor. Any excess CO2 in a solution will just try to off-gas, and if you can find a way of keeping it in solution but still available to react with the serpentine you'd have to wonder why they wouldn't just sequester the enriched solution rather than go to the trouble of reacting it and then sequestering the carbonate. Also of course the carbonate can be converted back by various acids in meteoric waters.

but hey, it's an interesting idea I suppose. Growing a bunch of weeds and then dumping it in some random stopes would be much faster and more efficient.

I would recommend if you have extra space to grow some type of grain as well due to the sheer amount of food it produces, for example a single acre of wheat makes approximately 40 bushels, a single bushel can make 42 1.5lb loaves of white bread or 90 1lb loaves of wheat bread so a single acre (which is a bit over 208ft per side) makes about 1680 white loaves or 3600 wheat loaves.

Just something to consider, according to the national wheat society (which all these stats are taken from) 1 acre can produce enough flour to feed a family of 4 for 2 years.

Yep, I've seen dozens of pilot projects in my time in water treatment and most of them produce really good results in small batches but never get put into practice.

The one exception I've seen is wetlands mitigation of AMD. I know of a place where it's being used. It seems effective so long as the wetlands aren't disturbed, but it takes up enormous space, you can't eat anything that grows there, and presumably it'll take thousands of years to actually consume the waste. But on the plus side it only needs to be monitored a few times a year and requires nothing else labor-wise.

Yeah honestly as long as you have a large garden with many sources of food you can get away with only a quarter acre really, its not good to go all in on grains anyways since the nutrition they give is limited so you'll want an extensive veggie patch regardless and not just for your own use. Personally I think for this kind of self sufficiency the best sweet spot is the 3-5 acre area, any more and it starts to get a bit too large to handle on your own.

If you want a real laugh along those lines, look up algae to bio fuel production proposals. The idea is some species of algae can produce quite a bit of fatty acids which can then be used as the basis for conversion into an oil mixture and distilled for fuels. Even if you managed to breed some kind of mutant super algae that produced fuck tons of grease, you need acres of snaking raceways full of the stuff to convert into a fuel mixture, and then you have to use good old fashioned electricity or fossil fuels to get a a bottom reboiler to 400C or so to effect the separation. And yet these projects keep getting funding because low info morons only see "OiL fRoM pLaNtS" and not "fuck huge energy cost anyway.

That was my whole complaint with the US government's biobased materials requirements.

they force contractors and purchasing agents to buy biobased materials. Ok, looks good on paper, but all those materials consumed massive amounts of ammonia fertilizers made from fossil fuels using the haber bosch process. It seems much more efficient to just use the fossil fuels directly.

but environmentalists see 'biobased' and think it's free.

Unless they are seriously underforming SILJ (by 20% or more relative to the day they bought) then people need to stop obsessing about the daily price-movement of mining stocks. Almost all of them are severely depleted in price; even the producers need to more than double to reach fair value. Many trading at 1-4x cash flow. Nothing matters until silver goes over $30. Then you will see the miners quickly soar and catch up not merely to fair value relative to today's silver prices but to the new silver price. Most investors are simply waiting for confirmation that the silver bull market is real, and that silver isn't sinking down to the sub-$20 suppression-range again.

10x is historically normal for a strong mining company, 30x is a number which you often see in miner bull markets (even for small producers, e. g. Starcore went 29x last time). So a lot of these microcap producers which are trading at 1x cash flow or projected cash flow (BHS, Vangold, Starcore) already need to go 30x relative to their current mcap; then take into account the leverage which rising silver prices afford and you will see why many miners will be going 100s or 1000s of x at $100+ silver.

The difference really is that with ETFs you are trusting a third party that they actually own the gold that they say that they own. Historically it has not been wise to trust third parties because time and time again they have started to scam people because there is profit to be made. By scam I mean, not having 1:1 backing at all times and then if bank run happens you will not get back what you think you have. >Can I cash sprotts products out into something that isn’t the dollar?

Yes. I always provide the easy example that, when Italy changed from the libra to the euro, Italians simply cashed out their stocks into euros from then on, despite the fact that they bought them in libras. PSLV is audited and bound to a delivery mechanism (you can take delivery if you own 10 1000-ounce silver bars), so PSLV will always retain its value. There will always be a demand for PSLV, because there will always be rich people who want to collect enough shares to take delivery of silver bars, therefore you will always be able to cash it out. Government confiscation or nationalization is sole concern.

>>26005896
>>26005936

PHYS and PSLV are not like the GLD and SLV frauds, where nobody is able to take delivery, auditing is poor, and the banks are able to settle in cash. PHYS and PSLV are the soundest ways to buy gold and silver on the stock market. The Perth Mint used to have an ETF where you could take delivery too, but Goldman Sachs recently bought it and removed the delivery mechanism (so it is now another fraud, and probably simply a raid to replenish the rapidly emptying COMEX).

>If the USD hyperinflated would the stock market exist?

Yes, it would. The German stock exchange didn't disappear after the Weimar hyperinflation, nor (conversely) did the American stock exchange disappear after the Great Depression "hyperdeflation" (so to speak). So our precedents for two different kinds of economic collapse show that stock markets don't simply disappear. In fact, people like Hugo Stinnes, the "inflation king," made a fortune in Weimar Germany by buying assets during the hyperinflation crisis.

I was not claiming they were. Just wanted to point out the general risks of owning "paper gold" in contrast to holding physical gold in your own possession. Even the fact that something is redeemable does not guarantee that is not in fact fractionally reserved. Because generally the risk of bank runs is extremely small and only a very tiny percent of people invested ever ask for physical delivery. All paper gold are claims on real gold and one should be aware of that when selecting the investment vehicle.

Thank you for making this point. The size of the debt and the budget is one aspect of why interest-rates can never go up again. The other aspect is that assets are in such a bubble--houses at 8x earnings, stocks even more so (30x forward earnings)--that even a 1.5% yield would now crash them into oblivion, because it would offer too great a rate of risk-free return. Quite as we saw a 3% nominal yield crash the market in late 2018, when things were in far less of a bubble than they are now.

>So sprotts products should be as safe as physical?

This is how I'd rate the Sprott products on a scale of best to worst ways of owning metal:

1) Physical in your own hand
2) Registered bullion which you own in a vault
3) Allocated bullion which you own in a vault (GoldMoney, Kinesis, BullionVault)
4) PHYS and PSLV

PHYS and PLSV are the lest best way to own bullion, but they are infinitely better than having nothing, or buying unallocated frauds like GLD and SLV.

Forgot to answer this. Gold will scale with any new currency which any government is able to issue after the dollar dies. Because currencies will then only have value insomuch as they are backed with, i. e. redeemable into, gold or silver. If you own 30 ounces of gold, you are in the top 1% of gold-owners. Somebody who owns 30 ounces of gold will stand in the top 1% of the world's wealthiest people after the death of fiat.

>Do you know if the tell me something like I own 50 oz of gold or whatever that will scale with all world currencies?

Gold will scale with any new currency which any government is able to issue after the dollar dies. Because currencies will then only have value insofar as they are backed by, i. e. redeemable into, gold or silver. If you own 30 ounces of gold, you are presently in the top 1% of gold-owners. Somebody who owns those 30 ounces of gold will stand in the top 1% of the world's wealthiest people after the death of fiat.

If you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket with Sprott's products, consider buying mining stocks. The index for the large-cap gold miners is the GDX. It contains dozens of different gold-mining companies, so it is safely diversified. One of its largest components is Barrick Gold, formerly called Homestake Mining. Homestake went 5x during the Great Depression, even though that was a deflationary, not an inflationary event.

Seems like most of his profits were generated from consolidating previous wealth and monopolizing industrial processes. During the hyperinflation he bought up a bunch of worthless newspapers and advocated for altering labor standards to increase efficiency and productivity. Sounds a lot like Jeff Bezos of our day, consolidating massive warehouse distribution and transportation infrastructure and vertically integrating every part of the process until Amazon is a monopoly like it is today. Not to mention Jeff Bezos also recently bought Washington Post

Thank you very much for your kind words. >>26006832 The reason why we have all these enormous asset-bubbles in the first place is suppressed interest-rates (or yields). When the bankers use Q. E. to make bonds to pay a negative, or 0.5%, or 1% yield, they make bonds deeply unappealing to investors, and force them to seek for alternatives. Hence they rush into stocks or houses instead. The trouble is that, if the bankers lose control over the yield, all the bubbles start to crash, because people begin to see bonds as appealing again. Stop-losses get triggered, and it turns into an avalanche of selling. This is what we saw in late 2018 and early 2020 before the bankers injected more Q. E. into the system. So the bankers have absolutely no alternative but to keep printing the currency into oblivion.

Silver is a lot rarer than gold. There are almost no stockpiles of silver, because most of it is consumed in industry, whereas most gold is not consumed. This is why some people think that the GSR might go back not merely to 1:15 but even 1:3 or 1:1 or in the wildest conceivable fantasies 2:1 (2 ounces of gold for 1 ounce of silver).

Your allocation of gold vs silver vs mining stocks depends on your desire for safety vs your desire for leverage. Gold is the safest thing to own, and will crash the least if this isn't a real PM bull market. But it will also go up the least. Less safe but more leveraged is silver, then large-cap mining stocks, then junior mining-stocks. So in order of least dangerous, least leveraged to most dangerous, most leveraged PM assets, we have:

Physical gold
Physical silver
Large-cap gold miners (GDX)
Large-cap silver miners (SIL)
Mid-tier gold producers (GDXJ)
Mid-tier silver producers (SILJ)
Junior small-cap miners

I own 10% gold bullion, 10% silver bullion, 5% gold junior mining stocks, 75% silver junior mining stocks. So I'm pretty much all-in on the silver investment thesis, and leveraged to the utmost degree of risk vs return. But other people might prefer to be 100% in physical gold.

Do ya'll have any preferences between buying Silver Eagles or Britannias? I was planning on buying more Silver Maples as their price over premium was much lower, than the two, but checking what people are actually paying for coins, it seems like Silver Maples only go for spot pretty often but Silver Eagles and Britannias go for around their premium or even above. To me it seems like buying Britannias is the smart way to go since they cost almost as little as Maples but they sell for near or above premium.

Also can anyone explain why Mexican Libertads are worth so much more over spot?

>silver is a lot rarer than gold
I understand the bullish case for silver very well but this is not true. Yes about half of silver is used in industry and half used as money (store of value). However if we talk about scarcity the mining ratio is approximately 1:8 meaning that gold is 8 times as scarce as silver in the earth's crust. Given the 1:8 mining ratio and the prevailing GSR of 1:70 I agree that silver appears undervalued compared to gold but would not go as far as saying it is "rarer" since in earths crust there is almost 10 fold the amount of silver as there is gold.

When I say that "silver is a lot rarer than gold," I am referring to above-ground stockpiles, of which there are very few. The context of the discussion was, "Why do 30 ounces of gold put you in the top 1% of gold-holders, but 60 ounces of silver in the top 1% of silver-holders, despite the fact that 30 ounces of gold = $55,500, but 60 ounces of silver = $1,500." I agree about the mining ratio, which is why I think that these ideas of a 2:1 or 1:1 or 1:3 GSR are unlikely; but I think that 1:15 is a reasonable number to hope for.

>You deserve a metal
He deserves a higher physical metal allocation than mining stock. Imagine how bad it would feel if 4/5ths of your liquid wealth was in paper assets when a hyperinflationary collapse/revaluation to real money happens. You would look at your stack of physical and think "If I had gotten rid of my worthless paper while others still thought it had value that stack would be 5 times as big as it is".
In conclusion, that's a good choice to go with 100% gold silver and time.

Craig Hemke and Alasdair Macleod own more physical gold than physical silver. Their theory is that central banks are hoarding gold, so that gold will become the money in the end, not silver. They see silver as something to trade for gold during the interim period at the death of fiat, when it soars as "the poor man's gold," because gold is too expensive to obtain. Personally, I disagree with them, and think that silver will return to a 1:15 GSR without COMEX suppression, and might even be re-monetized by many different governments (Latin American countries, Poland, India, etc.). That is why most of my investments are in junior silver miners.

Fine I get your point but your previous message could be misinterpreted very easily into thinking that silver is more scarce in nature. I agree that we'll most likely be headed to somewhere around 1:15 or 1:20 GSR but it will obviously take a long time to get there. Things like 1:1 GSR are really just schizo theories in my mind similar to crypto moonboi theories that XRP will go to 2000 end of year of something crazy. Even if the GSR reverts to 1:20 there'll be plenty of profits for silver investors.

>> No.26007880

>>26007801

1:1 GSR was the ratio in ancient Egypt, and 1:3 was the ratio in mediaeval times and the Renaissance, so it isn't inconceivable to return to it. And if we see silver re-monetized again, who knows what will happen. There are theories that most of the easily-mined silver has now been depleted, because silver is what is called "epithermal" (Andy Schectman talks a lot about this). Join that consideration with the modern industrial uses of silver which did not exist in the past, and the scarcity of the metal in any stockpiles, and I am open to the idea of anything happening to the price. But yes, even a 1:15 GSR would make any silver investor so unimaginably rich that it doesn't really matter past that point.

Think of it this way, every ounce of gold you own is _guaranteed_ to preserve and magnify your wealth. That is a _100%_ certainty if fiat collapses. You might want to get some silver coins for bartering with people, but gold _will_ be a safe haven. So it is categorically impossible to go wrong with gold. If you want to take a little more risk for more reward with 10%, 20%, etc., of your cash, then buy so much silver instead. On that basis, the amount of silver you buy is entirely up to you.
