Never used IB, currently using questrade. All I can say is that ~$5+ commissions are a significant barrier for intraday trading, mind you 5 canadian pesos is a MINIMUM rate so you're going to be charged more for high volume purchases/sales. Their desktop trading client is decent enough, but their scanner is...limited. You're going to have to pay extra for real time data AND level 2 data; you get 15 minute delayed lvl 1 data for free. Their charts are kinda garbo in the client too, most of the time you can't get more than a year or two of prior daily/weekly data on the historical charts. Their web/mobile app is decent, but suffers from the same issues as the desktop client does. Exchanging currencies/ deposits are easy, though I don't know much about withdrawals.

I went with Questrade because I hated IBKR's interface. Option commissions are expensive, but if you get active trade pricing they are $4.95+$0.75 per contract vs $9.95+$1 without out, but not worth it unless you actively trade. The level 2 is nice. As long as you're buying more than 1 option contract in a trade, the prices are very close to what IBKR charges. The support team has always been helpful and I haven't really every experienced any downtime as of yet. The 0 commission ETF is nice since you can essentially DCA into any ETF you want free of charge, but there is a fee when you sell. Moved on to Questrade after starting out with Wealthsimple and unless there comes a broker with 0 commission trades, I'll probably stay with Questrade forever.

I make the majority of my profit from just stock. Go for options when you find a stock you just don't want to wait around for. Don't do it if losing that money is going to upset you. Find a good SPAC or something and cut your losses right when you get a profit.

If you're starting out with options, one of the "safest" strategies you can go with are buying LEAPS. Basically options that expire 1+ years out with a delta of 80-90. You want a delta that high with LEAPS because you are basically buying 100 shares of stock, but with leverage. After this post, I'll also link you an example of the type of leverage options can give you. Options are not like stocks, they mostly go to 0, but if you manage your risk, you can profit big time.

Implied volatility affects both vega and delta. By having a very high IV, the delta will be absurdly high and as a result the option premium will be expensive. I'll use MARA 2023 calls as an example: A MARA 2023 40c has a delta of 90 partially because of the high IV on the option. The call is $16 OTM and yet has a delta of 90. Look at options for SPY as an example. You will not find an OTM call with a delta of 90 like on MARA. Read, read, and read some more. Options are complicated and you don't really understand how much money you can make/lose till you experience them first hand.
