My mom has $17K In a boomer tier mutual fund. It's OAAAX. It’s been there for over a decade and only returned 50% in that time.

I definitely think my brother and I can invest the money better. We are very close and she is letting us do it. I love you mom.

Anyway, I don’t want to be TOO risky with it, but I don’t want to be too safe either. I’m thinking we put like 80% of it in good ETFs and 20% in meme stocks. The only other problem is that my brother and I already own most or all of these ETFs that I’d buy for her. Is it stupid for us to put all 3 of our eggs in the same basket?

It's okay bros. There were about 70 weeks between when DeepFuckingValue made his first post and when GME had a +60% day. If you had YOLOd your life savings on weekly options every week until today you'd have had a ~1.4% chance of that week being the squeeze and getting early retirement gains.

Call contract gives the buyer the right but not obligation to buy shares from the contract seller at the agreed strike price.
The call contract seller, takes premium from the buyer, if the price of the stock stays below the strike at the time of expiration, the seller keeps the fat premium and the contract expires worthless. If the stocks price goes above the strike and the buyer exercises their right, you the seller have the obligation to sell them 100 shares at the agreed strike price.

A covered call is when you already have 100 shares and you sell a call, if it’s exercised your shares are called away.
A naked call is when you have none of the shares, you have to go on to the open market, buy 100 shares and sell it to the option contract buyer at the agreed strike price.

In short, don’t fucking do it, naked calls have unlimited loss because there’s no cap on high the price of the stock can go. If GME rises tomorrow that poster could be looking at a even higher loss.
