What is the point of this? If someone gets access to your encrypted wallet they'll just try 10 attempts and it'll hard lock. How is that supposed to be better than normal non-retarded data security?

This is one of Ripple's head developers, who was working on Codius (which Vitalik ripped off to make ETH, and which now is being released as Flare, more or less).

This is likely a promotion for Ripple's new custody platform, Polysign. Polysign is going to be very, very cool, and will solve this problem.
