I'm hoping someone here will know... I have been digging around everywhere for open source scripts to set up games, such as dice or poker, for a few coins. I've come across one called "bitcoin poker room" but it's pretty well broken because it's old. I've seen some PHP scripts posted here and there on forums, not dumb enough to go for the obvious ripoffs. Anybody know of anything legit and actually free? I don't care if it's a simple high/low betting game, as long as it works.

gridseeds have 30 day manufacturer warranties if you're not overclocking them
failures are basically unheard of so far, they seem pretty safe
pay attention to their cost and how much scrypt coins are falling vs btc though, they take quite a long time to pay themselves off now, and will continue to get harder
it doesn't seem like a very smart investment to me

>What will they do if Dogecoin changes its algorithm?
1 DOGE = 1 DOGE
dogecoin changing algorithm could really be revolutionary for the altcoin scene, one of the still most traded altcoins going back to the gpu miners that actually care about it and setting a new standard, but since that would have a chance to affect the price in a positive way, the devs don't want it

Really doesn't seem very smart for the buyer. 30 days is nothing compared to GPUs and resell value should be close to zero once the gridseeds become useless.

And all pessimism aside I can see LTC and DOGE devs working on preventing ASICs since it goes against scrypt's purpose and should be considered an attack on the network. As much as reddit propagates 1 DOGE = 1 DOGE (which is good btw, because it shows faith) they still hate multipools and ASICs.

>>258444
Right now cost for GPU and power is pretty much constant, if rapidly improving ASICs take that away the only people making major profits will be those who manufacture the ASICs.

I see a simple way out of it actually.

Scrypt is scrypt10
ScryptN is currently scrypt11

Make a scrypt coin into a scryptN coin with a parameter of 10, give loads of time to everybody to update (like two months or something), then adjust the N parameter.

But I fear that if the world-class brains couldn't think of it, a random anon can't get it right, unfortunately.

It depends if ASICs can adapt to it, I don't really have enough insight to judge. If your scryptN automatically and unforeseeable negotiates algorithms or alternations that exploit the weak point of ASICs it could be a good approach.

>> No.258633

>>258617
scryptN has been make explicitly to contrast asics, because the N parameter makes it heavily ram dependent and asics are really poor at ram (asics worked great for btc because almost no ram is required, and this is also why scrypt asics cost relatively more).
Since the N parameter is dynamic, when the next generation of asics is out, you just adjust the parameter.

The real question is
is it possible to turn a standard scrypt(10) coin into a scryptN coin (with an initial parameter of 10), i.e. to make the parameter adjustable, without braking everything?

Running all wallets under one user?
You can't really audit the source code when running the wallet is time critical after the password for a new coin gets released. Or there could be a security hole for example in the RPC being found and exploited by a new coin except if you are taking additional security measures that prevent such a thing.

I'm not getting what you're saying here. The N parameter is a fundamental part of the scrypt hash, and it was an oversight on *litecoin* part to make it fixed.

>> No.258718

The way I understand it, scrypt was made to simply make this shit use lots of RAM so if ASICs ever get made for it, they dont get mad effective like the Bitcoin ones. Scrypt-N makes it near impossible to make a better ASIC because the memory usage fluctuates, while with regular scrypt it's just set at high. If you get a scrypt-N miner with lots of memory, it's going to cost a lot of money because of all the extra memory and at some point you might find that it's still not enough for some coins.
I might be wrong about this easily though, I haven't researched scrypt-N a lot.

I think the scrypt paper does not answer this positively (note: mentioned in the pic are r and p, not N; also the term optimum value is not further elaborated on (optimum value does not imply a significantly better ASIC resistance especially if you consider that tuning these parameters might also mean that you scare away past-generation GPU users)).

Oh, also regarding the tipbot, some people are worried after the PNDtipbot got cleared out. I hear that the reason for that was that the tipbot had a really weak password, so I've made the one for this NSA strength.
