Stimulus checks or not, this was inevitable. For the record, I like crypto and think it has a future. I'd really love to see a decentralized currency such as Bitcoin become a mainstream asset.

Bitcoin, like a few other could become mainstream in the future, but it's simply not ready to be mainstream yet. Most people, let's get real here, are ONLY investing in the coin because HAHA "NUMBER GO UP! XDD"

Cryptocurrency, in my opinion, is skipping a crucial step before Bitcoin can be seen as a truly digital gold: real-world mainstream USE. Seriously. More small / large businesses need to be introduced to the idea of crypto and all its benefits, be used a legitimate means of exchange, THEN Bitcoin could act a reserve gold, so to speak. Rome wasn't built in one day.

There are also a few other things I heard about which only were the icing on the cake for me not to buy in late in this bullrun, such as the tether rugpull. Also the institutions buying into this. Guys, just because people are buying into this doesn't mean they actually trust it. They simply want to make big bucks of normie fools who think in simple terms such as "number go up, incel logic bad"

The idea of utilizing BTC as a safe haven for capital has been gaining traction for years and corona bullshit shifted that process into fifth gear. Institutions are buying in ever increasing numbers and BTC is slowly but surely becoming a genuine component of the world economy. What kind of adoption are you mongoloids looking for if not this?

>There is literally zero ZERO reason to dump,

yeah other than the fact that bitcoin is as bad as fiat in that it has no inherent value and isn't a store of value and isn't even a reliable means of exchange

In september 1 BTC is $1000. You buy 1BTC.

A few months later 1 BTC is $5000. You sell your 1 BTC. You now have $5000.

A big crash happens 1 year later and BTC is back at $1000. You buy 5 BTC.

Tada your 1 BTC became 5 BTC. When BTC reaches $5000 again, you'll have $25000.

There's no reason for btc to catch on as a mainstream payment method, not soon at least.

Btc has many strengths over fiat; exactly 0 of them do normies actually care about. Btc thrives in environments where governments wish to regulate/interfere/shutdown. It's no wonder btc got its start in online black markets - but a currency which cannot be frozen, seized, or tracked isn't going to help make your morning Starbuck's purchase easier - just the opposite. Transactions are slow, expensive, and unwieldy.

Sure, there are "bitcoin credit cards" but this is glorified fiat. You're not really spending bitcoin nor is the merchant accepting it - it's just a marketing gimmick. Behind the scenes the banks are in full control of every transaction, in full compliance with every KYC/AML law, so why bother? Just sell the btc on an exchange and spend the fiat as you normally do.

The real potential of btc won't ever be realized unless (see: until) there is a catastrophic failure of the current system. Fiat currencies have an expiration date, brought closer by reckless government spending. In the past we've jumped to gold, now we can jump to btc.

Until that happens btc will remain a speculative asset and currency for gray/black markets only, imo.
