1. Ok, so let's start with the most obvious reason -- degenerate gambling. You think that this coin is going to 100000000x and make you rich.

The reality is that altcoins massively underperform Bitcoin in bear markets and you will end up holding -95-99% bags because you are way too fucking greedy to cash out before the top is in and you will end up buying more. That's how human psychology works. Am I right, MIOTA bagholders?

2. You think Bitcoin is the new MySpace/Netscape. First of all, it's retarded to compare the very first cryptocurrency to social media websites and web browsers. Bitcoin is already a new religion, and it's already at the point where it's too big to be toppled. Ethereum would need to add $600 billion to its market cap (that's more than the market cap of Visa) to make this happen. Unicorn fags their chance in mid-2017, but it's already too late.

>> No.25781708

3. It's not scalable enough. The Lightning Network is already gaining traction if you are following this niche, with major exchanges such as Kraken and Bitfinex implementing it.

4. I like Vitalik/Hoskinson/Ripple executives/Dan Larimer/Sergey...That's the problem. The best thing that could happen to Bitcoin is Satoshi's disappearance, which made it the only truly decentralized cryptocurrency. No personality cult.

5. Tether is going to print money. The USD Coin (USDC), which is totally audited and regulated, already has nearly a $5 billion market cap. That's the same as Tether last year. On top of that, Tether competes with Bitcoin for volumes and adoption. Its implosion would be positive for Bitcoin (but it won't happen).

6. PoW wastes too much energy. Bitcoin will soon be mined with exclusively green energy (hydro, solar, wind). It's the first energy-backed cryptocurrency that was envisioned by Henry Ford. PoS-backed coins do not have intrinsic value.Coins like Cardano are meaningless and valueless.

>...but...but smart contracts.

SEC-regulated Stacks will implement them on the Bitcoin blockchain.

I can't come up with a single reason to invest in a single altcoin.

You are right, good decision. Realize almost everybody here is poor and stupid (average american). They cling to the dream of an altcoin making them rich, there is a reason the poorest % of the population buy lottery tickets while the richest spend next to 0 on them. They are buying a dream and don’t want to actually put in the work to get rich. Inevitably it always leaves them poorer

Yes, take a look at XRP holders. They've been holding onto their worthless bags for three years only to see this hovering above $0.30. Imagine being that fucking stupid.

DAO outperformed BTC's entire year returns in one week. If you know what you're doing and you have enough experience, low marketcap is the way to go.
Redditors outperformed your entire portfolio last week by putting their money on NANO, and selling when the music started to stop. Sleep tight with that knowledge.

Anon I am assuming you understand the benefits of a distributed ledger because you are into BTC. I encourage you to look into the use cases of smart contracts and the industrial players who are eyeing this space to cut their costs. Once you understand the value in smart contracts, look for problems that are currently preventing adoption. An example would be, how do smart contracts get real world data on chain securely and trustlessly? If you learn about these things and don’t see the value in them, or the writing that is already on the walls, you are unfortunately going to miss out on one of the greatest investment opportunities of your lifetime.

There's only one reason. Because other people also love degenerate gambling and going for that get rich quick scheme. Get in first, and leave the building before the alarm goes off. It's that simple, faggot.

I disagree. There are plenty of people holding Bitcoin and other crypto as a saftey net against hyperinflation. People also hold crypto because they think it really is the future and want to see centralized currency die.

>> No.25782194

I agree. However, I believe that blockchain has a technological advancement implication that goes beyond BTC. There are multiple coins that I invest in like I would invest in a business on the stock market. ETH, PRQ, and LINK are my main examples of this space. If their tokens are necessary for a decentralized technology, and that technology gains demand, the token will increase in price. If one has no interest or expectations of a web 3.0 with decentralized infrastructure, they should BTC maxi. But if one truly believes in decentralized DApps and DeFi having a meaningful impact on the world, they should invest in projects they believe will take off using fundamental analysis. BTC is like pm or real estate, shitcoins are like business stocks (though the vast majority currently are actually not)
