Reposting this from the end of last thread about JPM making wild cryto speculations:

>>25728696
Trying to feed into the normiecattle buzz around crypto in general. It gives it an air of authority to say "JPM thinks bitcoin is going to a jillionty dollars!!11!". The reality is they can say whatever they want, but it doesn't square with their actions. JPM inherited Lehman Bros. Massive silver position when they went tits up, and they've been buying a dragon hoard of physical while using their control of the derivative contracts to dictate its price. And they'll be damned if some goy tries to get in on their play.

This of course leads into the conspiracy theory I completely believe in about JPM stacking on behalf of the US government in the aftermath of the 2008 crisis.

/pmg/ frens I'm feeling like picrel. I don't see how this clown show can go on through the rest of this year without permanently destroying freedom forever. I have a small inheritance that I've largely invested in PMs, but I don't have anything else to my name. I don't even have any credentials because I dropped out of STEM college because I was demoralized by all the filth going on. 2020 was the year I would've graduated, so I would've just graduated into an entry level position making ~50k per year or be jobless if I didn't manage to get an internship by the time I finished. Now I have to work minimum wage and I just don't see any point to that seeing as I have no hope of saving enough to actually own anything. There's just no hope besides hanging onto my stack of lead, brass, and PMs. The vaccines are coming. I'm tired.

There was and still is a poster who comes on here from time to time and acts like an asshole and talks about how we're "doing everything wrong" and how we should get into debt instead of buying PMs. He makes a bunch of claims about making millions off contractor work for the government and mining companies without giving any real proof. His antics can end up making up a quarter of the posts on a thread.
After several days of /pmg/ being shat up by his constant assholery, the original someone copied one of his more conceited posts from the previous thread along with this image. The name Big Bob originated with that post. The pasta continued to be reposted off and on for several threads and eventually variations arose and the name Big Bob stuck, still being used to refer to the original poster when he shows up.

patina is a good telltale sign of real silverware. Junk silver also almost always has markings like "925" or the like somewhere on the metal. Please explain newfag why silver sell price is much lower than gold? For example, you can buy 100g of Valcambi for 5,043EUR and they will buy it from your for 4823.75EUR, however one kg of silver costs 756.06EUR and they will buy from you only for 671.31. What do you guys think of rhenium/tantalum? Rarer than gold and far cheaper at current costs. Somehow I think industrial applications will increase over time and the low supply coupled with rarity will create a profit opportunity. Were elements like palladium and rhodium always as highly valued as gold? Also, where would you get good sale prices for rare PMs that aren’t commonly traded in a high price scenario?

Palladium is the opposite of Rhenium. It is relatively easily to separate and cast into solid ingots. It helps that for decades the supply simply could not keep up with the demand in catalytic converters, spark plugs, among other things which effectively remove it from the global reserve.

Gold is more stable than silver. So maye buy more gold and maybe a few ounces of platinum. Get some silver bar while you are at it. maybe either the 50OZ bars or 100OZ bars. You pay less premiums on bars.

it's the current year, don't you people know that gold and silver are worthless since asteroid mining took off in 2020?

>On April 24, 2012 a plan was announced by billionaire entrepreneurs to mine asteroids for their resources. The company is called Planetary Resources and its founders include aerospace entrepreneurs Eric Anderson and Peter Diamandis. Advisers include film director and explorer James Cameron and investors include Google's chief executive Larry Page and its executive chairman Eric Schmidt.[17][46] They also plan to create a fuel depot in space by 2020 by using water from asteroids, splitting it to liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen for rocket fuel. From there, it could be shipped to Earth orbit for refueling commercial satellites or spacecraft.[17]

I have a suspicion that billionaires and public figures fund things that they know are useless bullshit or fantasies that will never come true. See the celebrities like the Blink 182 guitarist funding UFO research or the financing behind Missing 411/Bigfoot research. The theory is that these people are trying, or are instructed to, captivate the public’s attention and send them down fruitless rabbit holes that are not productive or add value to humanity. Elon Musk is probably the biggest player here. Space tourism and Mars colonies are sci fi fantasies but do nothing to improve the lives of people. There are probably many examples of this throughout history, such as scientific breakthroughs, discoveries, new schools of thought, etc. which sound interesting in theory but are disseminated simply as window dressing to capture attention and divert people away from researching and working towards productive pursuits or tangible wealth. Asteroid mining may one day happen, but as a topic of discussion, it’s meaningless right now, as we all know from studying precious metals and the mining industry. Plenty of potential right here on Earth under the ground. We are being intentionally misled by public figures who espouse these crazy ideas.

Hello, anons.

I am about to make my first precious metals purchase ever.

x4 1oz. Silver bars from https://monumentmetals.com/ , to get free shipping
:
Highland Mint (HM) 1 Oz Walking Liberty Silver Bar (Sealed)

Only $2 over spot price! ( I assume spot price means market rate )

I am choosing sealed because I want pristine silver bars never touched by human hands. Do (sealed) bars guarantee this?

I see that some bars on some of these sites can be secondary market.

What are the opinions of silver bought secondary market?

Also, I always wanted a tiny burlap sack of 60%/90% silver coinage, as a jest. Is this a wise investment, or will I never be able to find a buyer..?

I am calling my bank and the customer service to get the wire transfer transaction, to get the tiny discount as well.

Also, obligatory "Is this a good time to buy?"

Are there any other considerations I should make?

Cheers,

Copper is no joke.
Last March I shuttered 1 of the big 3 sheet metal companies in my state. I liquidated all the materials at or just under cost. I had 2 tons of architectural copper sheet (8oz/16oz/32oz 3'x10' sheets)...i refused to sell it to my former competition. I ended up offering it @ spot price 3rd week of March 2020 to one of my hands I came up under, I wanna say he paid about $2100 and I threw in a .375 4'x12' of 6061 al.

That copper at scrap value (he would never scrap it) he could get 2500 rn. For me to order that sheet count at today's prices, 6k minimum.

>( I assume spot price means market rate )
Spot is just the base price of the material. If spot is 25/oz and you pay $26 for one oz, you spent a $1 premium.

>I am choosing sealed because I want pristine silver bars never touched by human hands. Do (sealed) bars guarantee this?
In theory yes, but no one can say for certain for each mint's manufacturing process in detail.

>What are the opinions of silver bought secondary market?
Secondary Market just is a way of the seller saying 'hey we're gonna just throw some random bars or whatever we have in stock in your order'

>Also, I always wanted a tiny burlap sack of 60%/90% silver coinage, as a jest. Is this a wise investment, or will I never be able to find a buyer..?
Junk silver is a very common and often wiser investment. 90% American quarters, dime, dollars, and half-dollars are widely available, usually incur smaller premiums, and very easy to sell.

>I am calling my bank and the customer service to get the wire transfer transaction, to get the tiny discount as well.
For MM you should be able to do an 'E-Check' option. Essentially all you do is enter information found at the bottom of your checks and you'll get the discount.

>Also, obligatory "Is this a good time to buy?"
Who's to say? We just saw a dip off of roughly $27.50 spot while approaching a government that seems hell bent on spending more and increasing the debt so I'd say maybe?

>Are there any other considerations I should make?
I usually don't prefer to buy bars/rounds because with those you're never going to get much above spot if you ever need to liquidate them. Coins hold their value in metal alone, and there's potential for numismatic gains at relatively lower premiums. Try to get American Silver Eagles, or other government minted coins without going crazy for $10 premiums. That's just me, but I like to balance my PM purchases with potential numismatic gains.

If you're gonna ask me what intrinsic value it has, the answer, like anything, is that it doesn't. The only thing it has is history behind it. Rome acknowledged its value as currency, as did Egypt. In America it literally was money until only 60 years ago, in which its value relative to the dollar has only increased.

In 1921, dollars were made of silver. In 2021, that exact silver dollar is worth $20 off melt value alone. In 1921 to 2021 inflation rates, one US Dollar is now $14. If in 1921 you had $5k and kept it all in actual silver dollars, that money would have beaten out inflation by a large ratio simply by existing.

Is there a guarantee that something will or will not be worth X or Y in a hypothetical scenario? Of course not. Nothing is guaranteed ever. But history is clearly on one side over the other.

The mining companies will pay you gold and silver in dividends, you won't have to sell. Even Bayhorse has talked about doing it.

From a June nr:

"With cash flow, after recovering our capital expenditures, we will probably start paying dividends, and possibly look at share buybacks .."

A few months later:

"DORE DIVIDENDS? Sure, why not.

$BHS did a "PP WARRANT IN PHYSICAL SILVER"? Pretty epic. Also, they used EXISTING SHAREHOLDER EXEMPTION. That is best practices in Canadian jr mining finance today, @porc? I say so.

"The Silver Option may only be exercised after the Company successfully mines and processes silver from the Bayhorse property prior to the maturity date of the Warrants, provided that the Company, at its sole discretion, delivers written notice to each Warrant holder that they shall have the right to receive payment in kind by delivery of physical ounces of silver; and
The exercise of the Silver Option is subject to a minimum of five thousand (5,000) Warrants (25 ounces of silver)
In addition to any other exemption available to the Company, participation in the non-brokered financing is also open to all existing shareholders, even if not accredited investors, under the "existing shareholder" exemption of National Instrument 45-106 as promulgated in Multilateral CSA notice 45-313 in participating jurisdictions."

Resolute Mining was a pioneer, I'm sure that more will follow when the bull market gets going:

https://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/30/australias-resolute-mining-to-pay-its-dividends-in-gold.html

"Is cash still king? Investors in a junior Australian miner may soon have to decide.

The ASX-listed Resolute Mining said shareholders who hold 5,000 or more Resolute shares can opt to receive their dividend payment in gold through a personal account held with the government guaranteed Perth Mint.

Resolute’s managing director and CEO, John Welborn, said in a statement the company’s strong performance allowed for the adoption of the unique dividend policy.

“Resolute’s new gold sales-linked dividend policy rewards our shareholders by providing a sustainable income stream that allows direct participation in our ongoing production success,” said Welborn.

Resolute, which operates gold mines in Australia and Africa, announced on Tuesday it will pay a final dividend of 1.7 Australian cents (1.28 cents) per share for fiscal 2016.

It will pay out a total of A$11.1 million in dividends, which amounts to 2 percent of the gold miner’s fiscal 2016 gold sales revenue of A$555 million. As of June 30, 2016, Resolute had A$102 million in cash and bullion.

Shareholders can still choose to receive their dividend in cash if they choose to. Resolute’s move also comes at a time global interest rates have fallen sharply and bond yields have plunged, reducing the opportunity cost of holding gold, which doesn’t offer a yield."

Miners are still the most undervalued asset-class in the world. Even if gold or silver never went a dollar higher, most of them should double or triple to achieve fair value.

they only problem that i see with miners is that if gold/silver goes down miners do tank a lot but other than that you are right they are really undervalued and have a lot of upside potential

on the other hand physical feels a lot better than having mining stocks but i think i am going with more mining stocks
