It's this way so that people who are not already rich will never make it because they have to pay insane amounts of taxes on their wages which they then have to spend on necessities like rent, food, etc, which leaves nothing to invest so you can't benefit from the low capital gains taxes.

If you make your money through labor you have to pay 50% tax, if you make your money through investments you have pay much less in taxes. Rich people don't make their money from working, they get their income from dividends and capital gains. Most college degrees are completely useless. The Anglo-American obsession with college degrees is the equivalent of a western cargo cult. In the past, having a university degree heavily correlated with becoming part of the upper echelons of society, but that was not so much the degree itself but the intellect that came with it, as it was only accessible to an elite few. Universities, being run like businesses, recognised that people held this belief, so they lowered the bars of entry, and nowadays you have people in universities who in the past wouldn't have been the type of intellectual material from which academics were made. And employers know this too, which is why a degree is not going to grant you a good job. You'll have to undergo further screening. A lot of people today who are getting university degrees would be better off learning a trade. You too seem pretty midwit to me.
