You have to know how to maintain your fleet of printers, 3d/CAD stuff, etc. Those were all skills I already had from a lifetime of tinkering and such.I also used to program/code a lot, so I wrote macros that automate almost everything. >>25685138I wouldn't bet all my money on that (The fact that it will be happening soon). Possibly, in the future, next 5-10 years doubt it.Automation was replacing jobs since the industrial revolution. That is what is replacing jobs. For example the invention of the spreadsheet made an awful lot of people redundant over time. These things don't happen overnight. I doubt that most weren't able to find something else to do. As long as LinkedIn and Indeed is full of jobs, nothing to worry about.>There is a point it becomes better than developing AI than humans. There may be others here than are more up to date on the topic. There are two types on machine learning, supervised and unsupervised.Supervised, you give it a task and through trial end error it finds the most optimal way of doing said task, example: the chess "AI" that beat the world champion. These usually are good at a thing, much better than a human but in my personal opinion they cannot think outside the box. Cannot reinvent how.we do it.Unsupervised. These are used to find trends and patterns the we humans cannot fully comprehend or explain how. Is it flawless? I doubt that it ever was and will be. Again, algorithms lack common sense. Look up Tricks from the stupid data miner. Basically a guy used machine learning and concluded that the cheese production in Bangladesh drives the S&P 500 or Chase's Prediction of Mortgage risk model.Anyways, my point is that everything that is being replaced is the monotonous and repetative. Maybe, this time it will be different but historically as jobs were replaced new ones where created. Is your job in danger of being automated?YES: Learn something new that is in demand dumbassNO: Than why do you worry
I paint fire hydrants for a living. Not a lot of people know this but you actually need to be licensed to paint fire hydrants. The test to become a painter is hard. You need to know all the rules of the road and emergency procedures. Because of this there aren't many of us. I get paid to fly around the country and paint hydrants. Hotels, plane tickets, and food is all paid for. Once, I was working in the Bronx in New York, it was my first month on the job. I used to work with a guy named Ronnie. He taught me everything I needed to know about the job. The guy grew up in the city, knew all the Ins and Outs, where to get the best paint. Anyway, one day I was working in the Bronx with Ronnie and a fire broke out at a high rise apartment building. The firefighters couldn't legally use the fire hydrant because it had just been installed a week prior and had not been painted yet. Rules dictate a painter has to apply at least three coatings of paint to and assay the job before the hydrant can be used. They got a cruiser to pick me up and escort me to the site, sirens blaring. We must have been going over 100 miles an hour through busy streets and traffic, barely dodging rickshaws as we passed through chinatown. It was the fastest way through the city center you see. We pulled up to the fire and I began painting. I was new but Ronnie taught me a lot. I remembered his advice about pretending the brush was my tongue and that I was making love to a beautiful woman. I got the job done quickly and the fire fighters got to work. All in all only a few floors burned down and I was able to save the rest of the building and the happy families. It's a hard job but it pays well plus I enjoy helping the community.

I sell sex toys, mostly higher end toys. The shop is usually quite dead until later in the day, so I can just sit on my laptop or phone and dick around on /biz/ or stream something.
I sell MMO currency for 1k€ a month.

Freelance financial writer. Recently started working for a big investment company and have been freelancing for a crypto analysis startup since the summer so I get early access to super detailed analysis. Interviewed with a major crypto exchange recently and just got an email moving me to the third round. This time last year I was working in tv/film production but had to pivot because of Covid.

I'm a research physicist, work in a lab, do lots of data analysis, coding, maths. Get to play with expensive high power lasers and fancy equipment. Our group does a lot of quantum computing and various other quantum tech research. I also have a very small business on the side at home 3D printing which pays all my living expenses (rent bills etc). Recently I've been looking into finance and stocks and such, a lot of physicists move into finance and since I come from a poor background it's really appealing to me. Only thing that discourages me is that in finance the work is money, everything I do is with the goal of increasing my bank balance, but in physics I can work on something fantastic and cutting edge and there will be money in my bank at the end of the month without me worrying about it. I feel like it's kind of doubling up on my time, do something I like and get paid.

IT guy here, it’s not all bad thankfully. I’ve WFH for over 5yrs now and funny enough work more from the office now than ever. Feels good and after awhile working from home can get to you. Pay isn’t bad good benefits and absolutely no libshit environment. I do want to leave at some point though. Been accumulating my bags and hoping this year will really make some gains. I’ll hopefully be getting a house with some land on it and make a good network of community of based frens.
>>25694719>in tv/film productionTell me more
>>25682165Software Engineer. Write C++ code for a living. Work 80%. Pretty comfy overall. Enough free time for shitposting on 4chan and playing a bit of vidya now and then. Still wouldn't mind another 10X pump, so I don't have to work at all.
>>25683584I used to be much more of a Excel Jockey/Pitch Bitch my first few years, but now I’m directing that more at others. We’ve had a ton of layoffs in the last two years, which has helped my trajectory a bit. Most of my peers are 5-10 years older than me and are excel illiterate, beyond like basic navigation. It’s certainly helps to be a dual threat, but I imagine that will be the bare minimum expectation in the coming years and that these dinosaurs won’t make it through future cuts..Better them than me.
>>25682165>26>still in uni, will finish this November>I teach foreign language online as part time job>spend the majority of my income into crypto (all in GRT)Tfw life is comfy, but I hope good things happen this year with uni and GRT. Hope we all make it in this golden bull run, frens.

Also passed from 55kg skinnyfat to 67kg slim-but-muscles
>>25695084Expensive stuff, fuck machines, swings, poles, $200 vibrators, etc. It’s nice stuff but the building itself is kinda old and needs some love. We do have cheaper things but our bread and butter are DVDs for older guys and more expensive toys. The cheaper or novelty stuff is just gravy
>>25682165>100%service connected military veteranGet my uncle sam buckeroos tax free every month, in my uncle same paid for house that's also tax free. Too fucked to drive, or do any long term typing work even.So I just save money, invest money, make money; then watch my nice squiggly lines go up. Been trying to fix my mom and lil bros lives too(my just making mommy cozy, and teaching my bro how to fish and giving him a taste for blood in the various markets). Not the worst life for a grunt.

>>25697452By $200 vibrator do you mean like a $40 vibrator purchased in bulk from alibaba whitelabeled and sold as a $200 one?I've actually been looking online at the various prices for leather/latex gear and other things and there is a ton of stuff being marketed as "high end" on etsy that I've actually traced back to chinese sellers who sells it for a quarter as much as the markup.
>>25682436I always see people say "they don't check" but that's because you work a shit job. My employer literally called my school and last place of employment. >>25697567We have proper wholesale suppliers for probably 80% of it, but yeah some of it is totally just price hiked. mostly BDSM stuff, it’s unfortunate but it’s just how these places survive a lot of the time.
I'm a graphic designer and I work for a research company making very technical books on obscure mathematical subjects. Quite chill and specialized work. I like it
>>25697947I'm thinking that if online webstores have the prices through the roof than brick and mortar must be even worse. I've been thinking about ordering some stuff from china and just flipping it on etsy as if it's made locally but I'm not really a consooomer so I don't know what makes the most sense.
>>25682165I do marketing for a small business that sells large equipment. It's pretty comfy so far, "work" from home so I get to sleep in and work in a hoodie and trackpants. Covid has made this job a joke, I basically post on our socials 3-4x a week and design brochures & sell sheets for our equipment. It's an industry thats full of boomers so they are very easily impressed in terms of marketing. I spend most of my day shitposting on biz and watching crypto markets. Make 44k leafbucks/year. Hoping this bullrun will give me some actual capital so I can start my own biz and leave wagecuckery behind.

line cook, paid royally to be at home for months now since the sector is on lockdown. After the summer the amount of hours you work drops in half (less customers less work) so that means less money but since the lockdown of the hospitality sector the government pays me as if I work a full time job.
