Welp... looks like we've arrived at this point again. Where another poor soul finally realizes that crypto is a scam because you can't cash out.

You LITERALLY can't fucking cash out. Seriously, try it. You wasted all your money on internet bucks. There is no way to convert it back to fiat. All those "exchanges" that claim to deposit your money into your bank? Those are scams, the deposit never goes through. All those people saying it isn't a scam? They're shills for the scam "exchanges."

Anyone who tries to refute this post is a scammer shilling for scammy exchanges.

I have most of my real savings in Boomer ETFs (yeah ngmi whatever) but it's fun to trigger Boomers with.
Besides, Dave Ramsey doesn't recommend Boomer ETFs. ETFs are more of a late Millennial thing which got roped into Boomers via the 30 year old Boomer. He still promotes mutual funds as the way to go, like a true Boomer would.

His advice is ass but when you consider his typical audience member is the type of smooth brain that doesn't even know what a budget is or how to balance one, then it makes sense for these types of people to go full boomer.

Personally I love the guy. Not for me but for my mom. She stumbled upon his shit by chance like 5 years ago and listening to his boomer nonsense he convinced her to stop drinking, stop wasting money on needless luxuries like trading in for a new car every few years, and start investing in general (she started her first retirement account at 45). His stuff helped her rationalize going back to trade school, she picked up being an aestitician, started her own spa and now pulls near 6-figure in revenue doing skin care. I've never seen any other person have a mid life turn around like what she did.

The idea is that if you invested $1,000 dollars and it became $10,000, one way you can think is, "Oh I just invested $1000, it's ok if it goes down to $9,000, I'll still be ahead, I'm not risking much because I only put in $1000 to begin with".

Dave would rather you think "I actually have $10,000 right fucking now. And it'a real money that I can use to buy things, and real money that I can lose. And I am choosing to continue to have it invested in Btc. If I had $10,000, would I invest it into btc at today's price? If so, good. If not, then maybe sell because you actually have that 10,000 right now, it's not just 1,000. If it goes down to 9000 you actually lost 1000. Rather than still being up compared to when you bought in." Just another way of thinking, and not wrong imo

Rice n beans n beans n rice. Don't see the inside of a restaurant unless you're workin' in one. $1000 emergency fund. Debt snowball, largest to smallest. 3-6 months of expenses. Buy my daughters new book. Cut up those credit cards. No debt but the 15-year home mortgage. Invest in mutual funds. Live like no one else so you can live like no one else. Better than I deserve. The paid off mortgage is the status symbol of choice. Tune in again tomorrow.

Kind of weird that he uses the term "sunk cost fallacy" which to me means something else but I think that's what he means anyways when he says "reinvesting" every day

Dave Ramsey is for emotional spenders only.

When he says better than he deserves, he really means it because he knows that his investment advice is bad.

Notice that he never paid all of his debts. He declared bankruptcy. Better than he deserves indeed.

That anon is correct. Dave's investment advice is for people who are completely hands off and too emotional to handle anything else. You have to realize the majority of his audience (like the majority of people) are in debt to their eyeballs and terrible with money. He built his own empire by leveraging himself on real estate debt.

His bankruptcy also didn't touch his real estate. This is why you hear of successful people who bankrupted but came back ahead because you can set up assets to not be touched by shit like bankruptcy.

In a true SHTF scenario, cash will have utility in the first few weeks. The vast majority of people have no fucking clue that fiat has no value backing it other than state action and when the state plainly can't enforce an order it is useless. You'll be able to acquire needed items with cash in the early weeks. PM do have intrinsic value in such a scenario as they provide a medium of exchange.

But ya obviously the guns and loli dolls are the most important items

If you genuinely believe that your business will eventually fail and make you lose a lot of value (more value than you would have lost holding cash), it might not be a bad idea to sell. In the end, Dave gives the advice he gives because he thinks btc is too high risk to put half of your net worth in. For me personally I think btc will go up more and I'm not very risk averse so I don't mind being invested in it

he misspoke; what he was referring to is called the endowment effect.

>the endowment effect occurs when people place a higher value on a good that they own than on an identical good that they do not own. The endowment effect can lead to poor and irrational investment decisions, whereby (for example) investors refuse to sell loss-making investments in the hope of making their money back.

Basically people are irrational about holding investments that they're already invested in. It's why you see posts on plebbit where Tesla employees ask "hurr durr I have $500k in vested company stock, should I sell it or hold?" Or why you see trust fund kids inherit a bunch of shitty managed mutual funds from their boomer grandparents and they keep the money in the shitty managed mutual funds instead of doing something smarter with it
