I think part of it is that Tesla only does electric, whereas other companies have to shift significant resources from conventional vehicles to keep up. Tesla producing their own vehicles in house has its advantages as well. There is certainly a lot of hype though. I wouldn't be surprised if their stock levels out once major competitors start being able to compete, but considering how Ford's new electric is worse and costs more than a Tesla, I think it's going to be a while. I think it's more likely that another electric-only company challenges them first.
