Money is a store of energy, or more accurately work. When you inflate the supply, it bleeds. You can inflate the supply of gold and silver by mining it, and there are centuries' worth of gold and silver in the Earth's crust.

Bitcoin's supply, mathematically, cannot expand beyond 21 million coins. And way before that 21 million is reached, the energy/equipment cost of mining it will effectively cap the supply below that, at which point the price will have to rise to a point where it becomes profitable again. This is the opposite of how gold and fiat work.
