If you weren't, you would understand the basics of, say, bitcoin, as being decentralized by its nature. Of being finite so that there is no inflation. It's not a fiat currency.
Nobody can ever "control" bitcoin unless they literally buy it ALL up, at which point it wouldn't be a "currency" anymore.
And if someone did buy a majority of and sell it off (like say China since they own a lot) then the price isn't really even going to be effected that much over the longer term.
And, of course, the same things can happen with the USD, which is why the value of the USD fluctuates just as wildly as bitcoin, and China owns a TON of USD and debt, only difference is that our govt intentionally deflates the value of it over time so you get fucked.

I didn't see this part before and because I saw it now I will take a little more time to try to explain.
Anon, ETH is just the crypto that the Ethereum network uses. "Ethereum" is the technology. "ETH" is secondary. "ETH" exists to incentivize people to host the network. In this way, a decentralized network is created, upon which YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. You can create any app. You can provide any service.
Then you have smart contracts, which in the most laymans terms I can put it, are these decentralized contracts that can be carried out independently. You don't NEED any business. You don't NEED any stores. You don't NEED any corporation. You can do everything that those institutions provide without those institutions.

So we are talking about technology here that, at its fundamental core, renders the need for corporations and big business obsolete.
Ethereum IS the future, way more even than Bitcoin ever was. Though that shouldn't take anything away from Bitcoin either, as it is set to continue to revolutionize the global economic scene and is just getting started.

So the apps themselves (called "dapps") are decentralized. "Decentralized app" = "Dapp".
OK? Get it? So you put services out there into the world, and the ability to change money and handle transactions and so forth, and no company owns it or CAN own it. It renders all of these big corporations obsolete.

Take Uber for example. Once someone finds a good way to create an Uber-esque Dapp (prob won't be for a while but it will happen eventually) then every service Uber provides will exist independently in this decentralized network, owned by nobody, no centralized profits, no stocks, no shareholders.
