25491408 No.25491408 [Reply] [Original]

Welcome to the Monero General, dedicated to the discussion of the world's leading decentralized p2p privacy cryptocurrency that will guarantee you miss out on the golden bullrun!

Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, meaning users can send XMR around the globe despite corrupt governments or broken financial systems. Innovative privacy features such as Ring Signatures, Stealth Addresses, and Ring CT (hidden tx amounts) ensure that Monero's blockchain is obfuscated -- the financial history of all Monero users is encrypted from the prying eyes of adversaries on a public blockchain, with the proof of the transactions being possible by a Monero user willingly providing a view key for a specific transaction if needed.

Monero has also improved upon the scaling downsides of the current popular cryptos. To avoid high fees, dynamic block size ensures that the size of the blocks will increase as the amount of txs goes higher. Further, the mining network algorithm Random X establishes that anybody with a CPU can participate in mining, preventing the ASIC miner domination that creates a high barrier of entry. Lastly, the mining network will be preserved by Tail Emission -- instead of the block reward falling to zero like with Bitcoin, the block reward will gradually approach 0.6 XMR in May 2022, where it will forever stay. This constant linear inflation means the inflation rate will asymptotically go to zero while continuing to provide an incentive to miners to maintain the network.

I am quite happy that the price is crashing, keeps the community clean from gamblers. Everyone running a local node remember to open P2P port 18080. Less than 900 people have their ports open as such anybody who wants to download a copy of the node has low download speeds.

Sorry fudder, XMR Chads have Adamantium hands. If you feel financially ruined because you your profile dropped 20%, I feel like you've gotta be new to crypto. Volatility is to be expected, especially with a project like this that will regularly be attacked by the global elite. In the past few weeks a bunch of ripple refugees piled in, and on the news of an exchange delisting they got PTSD and fearfagged out, leading to the current drop.

If you're that upset, sell your XMR, buy anything else, and hang in their generals. Alternatively, stay here and offer whatever legitimate critiques you can offer- (and I know you're articulate from previous threads, so by all means we welcome the intelligent debate). However, if it all boils down to LINE GO DOWN AAAAAAH SHOULD'VE GOT BTC, then you have nothing to offer us and vice versa.

Reasonable guesstimate based on current trends. They (Satis Group) expect the primary driver of XMR price to ultimately be shadow economy adoption:

"Recently, we have already seen early signs of adoption by some of these cryptoassets; ransoms being posted to large corporations where even BTC could be tracked and was not the preferred method money laundering and asset shielding. Looking into the space, we believe the use cases that target the largest end markets will primarily use XMR (~60%) and ZEC (~ 20 Despite developers and executives associated with these projects declining to comment upon illegal use (to avoid legal ramifications), the largest opportunity within the Privacy networks will be unlawful activities."

https://www.3bit-lab.com/documents/satis-group-cryptoasset-initiation-report-fundamental-valuation-201808.pdf

So, first darknet trade and ransomware/extortion activity (current phase) and then gradually scaling up to major black money laundering. We're already starting to see the big players moving into crypto:

>Cali Drug Cartel Member Arrested for Crypto Money Laundering

>Ok, I got an actual question about atomic swaps and their price impact. Why do you guys think that the implementation of atomic swaps will make btc whales fomo into xmr ?

Because once atomic swaps are operational, all other BTC mixers are rendered instantly obsolete. In other words, BTC -> XMR -> BTC becomes the gold standard for mixing/cleaning/rebirthing. And for whales, this represents an ideal opportunity to rebirth/sell their coins with guaranteed discretion, basically to finally be able to enjoy a measure of true banking privacy.
>>25494806
>I think the theory is that once atomic swaps are available there will be a lot more demand for xmr. more people who need xmr == higher price

Asymmetrical demand and BTC's inherent non-fungibility will be drivers of Monero's price. "Oh, you want me to take your potentially tainted Bitcoins off your hands in exchange for my pristine Moneroj? It'll cost ya."

In other words, XMR holders get to charge a premium because they will need our Monero more than we'll need their Bitcoin, essentially constant upward pressure.

Atomic swaps will make XMR indispensable for reliable BTC mixing, driving demand through the roof.

where to dump monero my ass

Countless times in history have people been cheated out of their labor's worth by rulers and central banks. In order to avoid such fates, free people require free money: Money that is not at the whim of whoever is in power.

Monero really is the last great hope of crypto.
Most other big chains are completely monitored and subverted by legacy institutions.
It is time to get crypto back to its original vision again!
I believe in Monero! I believe in its purpose and its promise!
I believe its best gains have not yet been seen.
I believe XMRs greatest pumps are reserved for the future.
And with the help and the courage of anons from all over the world, we will give people the chance to experience economic freedom everywhere!

Monero standeth for liberty...
And they shan't take that away.

There be many fudders, shills and pajeets,
in this humble thread of mine...
But shitcoins and bitcoins will meet their fate,
they shan't stand the long test of time.

I bless my gracious fortune,
and boldly here proclaim...
Monero standeth for liberty...
And they shan't take that away.

The merchants and banks, they bring forth their bans,

They quiver in fright when Monero's in sight,
For Monero reveals their false games.

I bless my gracious fortune,

it gets more weird, it just synced the remaining 4k almost instantly. for w/e reason console commands like sync_info were extremely sluggish to respond as well.

Meanwhile the shit that UBS and HSBC among others gets no attention, and essentially no punishment.
Good thing the US Government is all over capital controls and law enforcement

I was lucky last night
I picked up an unknown amount of monero during the dip below $130
I'm nearly break even from 12 hours ago
Not bad.
Also, still mining

Thanks for keeping the network secure.

Would like to do, but our stupid covernment slaps a "green tax" on electricity, so 1kWh costs like 0.0025ɱ while big companies pay only 0.0005ɱ. A frickin scam

I have 3 GTX 770s in my various systems.
I need to try to mine ETH with those as they were buggy and slow with XMR

Man, looking at the ways of getting XMR show how early we are. If Local Monero is the best way to get XMR without KYC, then Atomic Swaps will be huge

Fact! XMR is lit but you gotta be prepared for a solar flare knocking down the grid and fucking up crypto for years.

Atomic swaps will be a game changer because acquiring XMR will instantly become as easy as buying BTC on Coinbase and thus Monero essentially becomes FUD-proof.

At that point, banning it becomes pointless and would only serve as free publicity.

for many whales it is. imagine satoshi to show up at coinbase trying to exchange his early coins. all hell would broke loose, and he'd be hunted down like snowden.

Yep, asymmetrical demand = guaranteed moon mission. To clean/rebirth just one BTC would today require ~230 XMR. To clean thousands, tens of thousands.......
