Hello, in this post I will present my research on GHIV and explain why I am invested in it
Do not just buy it because I am recommending it, do your own research and take responsibility for your investment decisions

Gores Holdings IV - GHIV
Run by Alec Gores, this is the fourth SPAC merger he has done - prior to this they did Hostess November 4, 2016 (TWNK went from $11.48 on November 4, 2016 to $17.14 in April 2018)
Verra Mobility October 17, 2018 (VRRM ~$10.60 on October 17, 2018 to $14.75 in May 2019, peak $17.00 before covid crash) and the PAE merger happened on February 10, 2020 - imo it is hard to compare how PAE performed in comparison as the merger occurred less than a month before the March crash - Alec Gores and the Gores group have a proven track record for successful SPAC mergers, something that is essential when attracting investment in this ‘risky’ SPAC space.
GHIV is merging with United Wholesale Mortgages, the #1 wholesale lender in the US and #2 overall in mortgages behind Rocket - this is UWM’s best year, with explosive growth in this low interest environment
https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/united-wholesale-mortgage-announces-record-third-quarter-2020-results-1-45-billion-net-income-301150875.html
>$54.2 billion, an 81 percent increase from the $29.9 billion loan volume closed in the third quarter of 2019, along with net income of $1.45 billion. Through the third quarter, UWM also closed a year to date total of $127.8 billion in production, already exceeding its 2019 production record of $107.8 billion by nearly 20 percent.
Key to UWM’s business model is that they are doing a TON of refinancing of mortgages - there are $10 trillion in mortgages that can be refinanced lower, and the industry can only do ~$3 trillion a year. The Fed is keeping rates low until 2023 (and will keep buying mortgage backed securities) so there is a *long* time for mortgage companies to thrive in this low interest rate refinancing environment

>Page 5 ctrl-f $10 trillion
The mortgage industry as a whole is booming right now. Whereas every other bank has been laying off employees, mortgage companies have been hiring in droves
>When does the merger happen?
On January 20th at 9:00am the merger vote will take place - the vote only needs ~35% of the shareholders to vote yes, as institutional shareholders have already designated their yes vote; shareholders widely across all stock communities are strongly in favor of the merger - the merger is 100% going to be voted yes, without a doubt - there will not be a single investor who tries to throw cold water on this deal
>Valuation of GHIV
The merger deal is with a UWM valuation of $16.1 billion, for 6% of the shares
https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-united-wholesale-mortgage-m-a-gores-h/united-wholesale-mortgage-plans-spac-ipo-in-merger-with-gores-holdings-idUKKCN26E1SA
0.06 times $16.1 billion = $966 million
Current cap of GHIV $697 million to reach $966M GHIV would need to go to $18

In addition to these fundamentals, GHIV has a ton of big names talking about it on Twitter (Zack Morris, Chamath, Ripster, Hugh Henne, etc) to hundreds of thousands of retail traders - GHIV is getting a LOT of hype and interest - it is one of the most talked about SPACs behind PSTH/IPOC
I think that it is going to pop up in the next few weeks leading up to the merger. I am not planning as of now to hold much longer past the merger, will re-evaluate on how things end up playing out
Although there were big accumulation orders and strength all day Thursday, it’s always possible that it dips on Monday - if GHIV does dip, I would highly recommend buying the dip
Your downside risk is limited to $10.00 worst case scenario (~30% loss) as you always have the ability to return your stock for $10.00

BNGO offer a better product. More efficient and at a lower cost.

$25 is where PACB is at. $4 is where BNGO is at. ARKG has yet to invest in BNGO. Can you guess where BNGO will be when they do?

Been bullish on BNGO since reading on them. BNGO symposium in mid-January.

My guess: $3-$6 range. If ARKG invests, $10+++

I guess some stocks are overvalued. Stuff like Apple just keeps going up for no reason, Tesla is a bubble that will burst in a spectacular manner. PYPL lost all connection to the ground and just keeps rising on the dream of better numbers every month, even when they themselves do not project that.

Then stuff like MA or V never really dumped to the level they should be at and some idiots believe tourism will pick up again this year.

But I also see tons of companies basically stabilizing for months, barely moving. Look at FB or MSFT who both missed out on the cubes rallye.
I don't think the whole market is overvalued, just a few distinctive companies.

Tbf. I disagree with the sentiment that oil is dead, but it is not a good investment with more and more regulations coming in and a slow move over to other stuff.

We will still use the same amount of oil in 2040, maybe even more.
But investing in the companies just seems like a bad idea when you have so many other industries on the rise.

Also oil is mostly used for transport. Every other use is basically tertiary in its importance.

Bonds don't necessarily go up in value when stocks dip. The reason they have in the past is the fed has cut interest rates in times of crisis, which makes existing, higher interest rate treasuries more valuable. However, with rates near zero this no long applies, especially if people use bonds as collateral for margin.

Basically, don't be fooled by boomer platitudes about bonds as they do not apply in a zero interest rate environment. Literally anything else including cash is better to hold in your portfolio (cash to buy the flashcrashes caused by the systematic fragility easy money creates).
