It's a rhetorical question. DeFi is the only thing that begins to admit this. So you have private companies riding on ETH. Are the private companies decentralized, not only are they not decentralized, the amount of tokens the founders hold is obscene (check Etherscan holders charts - that's IF they list it). Well, is ETH decentralized? This is very arguable - who exactly is running a full node on ETH?

Regardless of the alleged decentralization, with DeFi the only thing you're seeing is borrowing and lending. Well, I can borrow against and lend my Bitcoin on BlockFi, and it's no more decentralized than whatever the fuck protocol you're using on ETH.

Borrowing and lending, that's it. That's because there is nothing that "blockchain" solves, it's simply a piece of Bitcoin that's been turned into a buzzword.

Borrowing and lending. There are no profits. The profits are made in speculation. That's always how it's worked. Could it change? Sure.
