Gold is still volatile over time periods of a few years or less. Confidence still affects its price, but I think it is ultimately constrained to the amount of currency.

I didnt actually think of this myself, belangp did a video on it. In a Great Reset I doubt the same trendline would hold, but it does give a sense of where gold could head.

Gold, silver, crypto are largely memes. When shit hits the fan you need bullets, food, antibiotics, clean water, tradable small items like cheap lighters, one or more practical skills, and most importantly family and/or community. Read about Selco, he was in an actual SHTF situation for a year during the Bosnian war. Everything collapsed instantly, no police, hospitals, nothing. Roaming gangs of people looking for food and firewood. Back to the stone age. Anyways near the end of hisQ&A (written <2014) someone asks about patterns leading up to SHTF:
-Things that make differences between people are more and more problematic (race, religion, political opinion).
-Polarization is getting obviously stronger.
-People want to come to your country, but they do not want to “assimilate” or contribute to the greater good. They want to preserve their way of life which is often absolutely contradictory to the way that your country (society) works.
-The political way of solving those problems often fails, because, in essence, those problems are hard to solve in a democratic way (in the spirit of democracy).
-Your freedoms are “shrinking” as a result of that.
-Calls for “radical solutions“ for the problems are stronger and stronger.
-The media is absolutely working a dirty job, and it is hard to find out what is the truth anymore.
-Suddenly people and events from history are “brought back” so people can judge and argue about it, to write history again, to build myths sometimes.

Based. Yeah I take back what I said. It just seemed like it was pretty divisive in the last thread saying that gold and silver were memes. Lighters are probably the most cost effective quick way to start a fire and they last a long time, so they will be highly valuable in a collapse scenario. You can buy bulk from here https://www.amazon.com/100-Wholesale-Classic-Disposable-Lighter/dp/B07MBPFK1W/ref=sr_1_3?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Lighters&qid=1609689033&s=hpc&sr=1-3&ts_id=10342354011
100 pack is $14.75 ($0.15 per piece). I bought it and tested all of them. Only 2 were broken, and 1 had a loose striker wheel but I pinched the metal side together and seated it firmly in and it works every time. Imagine how much that $14.75 will multiply in collapse scenario. Even if only half of the lighters worked it would still be a great deal honestly.

My dad planted one 20 years ago thankfully. The top royal-chad tier fruit tree for hard times is the Asian Pear. They are resistant to everything, produce early and so damn heavily that the trees will bend to the ground if you don't thin the fruits. No chems or spraying or anything necessary, nothing attacks the pears (in my experience) and they are extremely sweet and good for extended storage too. Can be ground and pressed and the high sugar juice fermented, reduced to syrups, etc. Definitely look into Asian Pear trees and plant some this spring.

They ain't carp so to my knowledge no they aren't. I think they're propagated best from rooted cuttings. Picrel is the minimum bounty to expect with basically no care, like I said the trees will bend to the ground if you don't thin the fruits and I've never seen anything attack them like peaches or apples. tiny company that had issues in the past it seems with getting scammed with poor ground to explore, but their territory in the Lardeau at Silver basin looks like a VERY juicy exploration target. Previous mining was limited to only a few small scale high grade deposits and the best ore was at high elevation hampered by deep snow and killing cold. I have a sample of ore from this area near the "Lime Dyke" that carries 8oz per tonne gold in my collection somewhere, Spey's properties are the other side of the mountain zone from that vein structure. Their project is very early stage development, similar to my mates at Jaxon Mining, only starting the plans for drill targets and such.

Even disregarding Buffett's peculiar comments about precious metals (Buffett owned a very large quantity of physical silver in the 1990s and it is suspected that he was forced to sell it when it got called away), Buffett often does things that he tells other people to not do. For example, Buffett tells people that derivatves are bad (I believe it was either Buffett of Munger who called derivatives financial weapons of mass destruction) and yet he has huge derivatives positions. Buffett (in)famously sold his soul when he took a huge stake in Salomon Brothers and the company got busted for violating federal law in US Treasuries dealing.

Ah. So the quantity of gold isn't something that is reasonably doable by a one-person operation (unless he gets lucky and has a stake where the ground and river is filled with nuggets and gold, that is)? How much water or dirt must be processed to collect that much gold?

I'm marginally familiar with yields from large operations where they just dig up all the rock, crush it, and then use chemicals to leach out the gold. I'm just curious how rich the gold deposit was in the picture to be able to get that much gold from seemingly fairly inexpensive and minimal equipment.

Since we're on the topic, what is the best cash to have in SHTF? I know cash is trash and blah blah blah but in a real life SHTF you will probably need some cash in the short term, right now I'm stacking crisp $1 bills, which seem to be useable in most countries, while also being the easiest to transact in as you won't have to rely on the other person being able to make change for you. I also see some people post their hoards with lots of 100s, but as I said they may not be as liquid as you want, albeit more compact. Also, yesterday I was out getting something to eat, and the total came up to $6 and change, I paid with a 10, and they had no 1s in the register, I had to give them $2 more and get a $5 back along with my coins (They also had to break new bank rolls to make my change) This wasn't some small business either, I was at an auntie annes which in my area is probably on the level of a starbucks or some other place like that. Only mentioning this because I know there is a lot of talk about a coin shortage and people using cash less and this is one of the recent times where I have seen this actually in affect. Perhaps the government is starting to reclaim the metals from change that is in circulation now?

Thanks. This was something that was never covered in primary school history classes so it's not clear to me how much gold the colonies dug up. [We did have an inkling of how much gold was found in South America, though.] I was under the impression that the colonies mostly shipped back things like tobacco and other crops. I guess England somehow managed to keep people from wildcatting mines, which is kind of hard to believe considering the utter mania the California, Alaska, and Klondike Gold Rushes generated.

maybe gold +.80% and silver +1.50%

/pmg, anyone have experience with buying from r/pmsforsale? I have a chance to bag some PM's at just over spot, the seller has a good reputation, albeit somewhat limited.

We've been in contact outside of plebbit, chatted and exchanged stacks. He has quite a few nice gold coins, marked with his name and stuff.

Thing is, its going to cost me like $2500CAD to do this, which is like $200 under my LCS for a gold maple. He accepted my idea to pay $1250 upfront, then $1250 when its in my hands, so there is risk on both sides being accepted.

He wants to do E-transfer, and is willing to provide top-tier tracking via Canada Post to help eliminate the chances of it being lost in the mail. I can also arrange with my local post office to have it directly delivered to them, I only have to pick it up and sign for it there. Alot more secure than porch drop-off.

Should i go with it or just bite the bullet and support my LCS and their $200CAD premiums?

It is still in a strong bull market and should go up more than gold in the coming year due to the general belief that we're going to see higher inflation than the expected "2%" or so. The time to buy platinum was about two months ago or, if you had the guts, during the depths in March when it touched $625/oz. Marc Faber a month or two ago opined that the generally poor performance in platinum over the past few years was over and that the prices would likely not hit the lows seen at the time of his statement ($900/oz or so).

I should add that it wasn't that long ago that the ratio of the platinum and gold prices was roughly 2. It's current about 0.56. This means that even if the price of gold doesn't move, the price of platinum should nearly double. Note that we're making two assumptions here: Firstly, that a platinum/gold price ratio of 2 isn't garbage; and secondly, that we see a mean reversion back to that ratio.

Of course, one final thing to consider is that it's possible to get a platinum/gold price ratio of 2 by having platinum stay at its current price of $1,080/oz and having gold crash to $540/oz.

Consider the above carefully before making your investment. Full disclosure, I am invested in platinum and have been holding it and adding to it for about 3 years. I will probably sell my platinum if it achieves a 2:1 price ratio to gold.

It will also be more divisible/fractionated in terms of value density than gold if you want to barter with it in case of something happening. If you want an example of what might be a good way to start, buy a 20 oz tube of rounds or ASEs or two and then save up for a 1oz gold coin, then start stacking more silver for about 50 oz and do another 1oz gold coin. Yeah not 1kg in my opinion either, max 500g maybe. But if there is such a significant amount of gold you can get just by using a sluice, the ground must be ripe for prospecting too -- there is gold in the ground there

>> No.25469480

>>25469167
You're forgetting the other costs. There is the cost of the geologists to figure out where the gold may lay; there is the cost of the drilling samples to verify wht the geologists predict; and there is the cost of digging the stuff out to what is shown in the photograph. Finally, there is the step of refining the gold.

As Pan Man himself said about the gold in the photograph:

>That gold for example came from 180 yards of washed high grade pay dirt from bedrock.

I have no knowledge of mining but that sounds like 180 yards or rock with the richest ore deposits was broken out of a larger body of bedrock (largely worthless rock) and then processed (crushed?) and sifted to produce the result shown. It's not as easy as going somewhere with a pan, a pickaxe, and some simple sluices to coming up with that much gold. Unless, as I already stated, you happen to have an incredible land stake where the gold dust and nuggets are all over the place like sand and pebbles on a beach.

180 cubic yards of wet sands/gravel is like 600,000 pounds of material bro. Not something an average joe with a shovel and pan can do in a week. That takes some legit equipment with plenty of fuel and maintenance overhead.

the bedrock is the key. The gold and dirt mixture settle at the bottom of rivers and creeks (where it rests against the bedrock) which is dredged up and sluiced

Leverage. You buy a long dated (usually 1+ years) deep ITM call with a delta of ~0.8+. There are calculators online where you can see this.
The calls will be a fraction of the cost of owning 100 shares. The delta value means that for every dollar shift in the underlying you get 80 cents or more on the value of that contract for when you resell it.
Deep ITM calls are also less sensitive to swings in volatility. And long dated means they are relatively insensitive to time held until about 3 months near expiry. They just require that there is a secular movement upward in share price over months or years.
You sell them 3+ months out from expiry and "roll over" the capital into new LEAPs if you expect the trend to continue upward.

Overall I'd like to get those funds into a major producer either silver or gold.

Wow that's extremely bullish. I would say I'm really tempted to buy the dip, buuuut I'm really kinda weirded out by everything that's going on. Bitcoin above 34k while real money miners are supressed worse than they've ever been. It's all just so manipulated I think I should just stay in physical and keep stacking. If miners enter a bull market I'll join them, but I think we may be in for a multi-year bear market based on supression of the sector. Just look at that chart it's completely unnatural, there are price controls keeping it that low just like spot prices for gold/silver

It is not easy to find a good platform with crypto solutions to invest in.

Came across on DuckDAO, read twi posts of crypto skilled users. Seems like it is an open platform with an investment system. Do you know anything about it?

Just be willing to handle the volatility. LEAPs also have a problem just holding the ticker doesn't: they lose value if the share price of the underlying stays flat over time. That effect gets more severe the closer it is to expiration
LEAPs also require an options chain, and those do not exist for penny stocks or OTC markets. So you are looking at majors for this.

Also, I am having fettuccine with cream sauce (which has butter in it), bacon (which was baked with lime and black pepper), and honey ham. I can not believe this tastes so good together.

both based. I'll reach 13k invested by August. Bought 40k in physical first since I'm a pussy.

Also excellent choice of company. Maybe Kinross a bit overkill seeing their MC but that's an assurance I guess. Why do you want to move into producers though ? You don't need to follow GV strategy, especially since he just tweeted about possibly being wrong about this.
Unlike you I can't swap positions since I'm taxed at 40% on capital gains, will have to hold the full bullmarket, so I don't have to worry about that; will have to select very well my positions though.

FSM, PAAS, AG, SVM, etc. are all solid producers with little risk, large balance sheets, that are just better with higher silver prices. But all told there are like less than 10 silver-weighted producers out there, most others went into gold to survive the bear market.
There is nothing wrong with any of these holdings and in fact if you have a large portfolio those will be all you need/prefer. But /biz/ is often more heavily skewed towards much smaller portfolios that are willing to take on more risks with juniors to try for that 10x+ return (which can also go to zero).
I personally hold LEAPs on CDE, HL, and AG to take advantage of movements in the producers with far less capital. But that is because I think silver will go much higher.

I'm gonna be entering a short-Tether carry trade tomorrow. Should I go one step further and long Kinesis silver (KAG) on top of it? There wouldn't be any risk of liquidation in a dollar coin to dollar coin carry. If Tether doesn't implode in 6 months I'm gonna close it. What do you think the possible price range of silver is on June 3 and what probabilities do you assign to the prices?
