My house has a central air unit for air conditioning and a modern furnace.
Plumbing was fucked by the retard who previously owned it leaving the heat off in the winter and the wiring is extremely outdated.

That would happen in an older house too though, I have seen many new houses that are boring and bland, but I have also seen many older houses that are boring and bland as well, just look at the old rowhouses in Boston, or the 1950's and 60's ranch style houses. I guess it's up to your taste, but having lived in and had to deal with all the issues an older house had, I would personally prefer a newer one, they are at least easier to replace parts in.
