Nuclear isn't "better". It is just better suited to baseline load. Nuclear and nat gas compliment renewables which are better for peak demand. And a well diversified energy portfolio is good for the same reasons a well diversified portfolio are.
It also is much more adaptable based on population density. A remote town of 500 people don't need a nuclear plant, for example.
