ill give you my take on it... people used to move out at a very young age 18 or even lower because they were off to start families, menial jobs had decent wages and housing was very affordable all favorable factors for a young new family... but in 2020 what do you really have? You have women who are hypersexual and are not looking to settle down with the average guy with a job. My pops also charged me more in rental than when I moved out, but you have to factor in food, maid and those things. But what got me was he would still dictate to me stuff to do in spite of charging me this exuberant rent.
