I think I've come up with a long term 'shorting the entire market without losing a shitton of money' play

For SPY you can get a long straddle for about 10k right now expiring in 2023.
SPY will probably continue to go up, and will probably go up about the amount it takes to breakeven over time against theta (its about a 53 dollar contract each way so you need about a $3 dollar gain/month at least to break even (must gain $106/36 months to breakeven))
But even should SPY tank if your strike is too far away from the center in your spread you can actually lose a ton of money, because all the intrinsic value in the contract is in the call option. This figure shows that - if you're sitting at $400 and go to $350 you lose a ton of money

To fix this, every week or so you'd want to reset your long straddle to be ATM and push out your expiration date to reduce theta and decrease downside risk due to dips.
Is there an issue with this play? I think it could work quite well
