I find it incredibly hard to imagine that many people on biz would understand something like GRT. I just started looking into it and it isn't exactly a simple project that a layperson would understand. I'm trying to understand why a querying language cannot be developed and used as a standard protocol.

Is this just an inherent feature of blockchains that every transaction "costs" something? Thinking about it, seems that executing anything in solidity costs money, now if you add something like GRT, you have to pay to execute graphQL queries, then you'll have to pay to send/receive info...

Seems like it'd make a lot of shit expensive. How do developers test this? Do they download like a static/snapshot version/at time X of each blockchain with which they're going to be interacting, get everything working in a testing environment, then deploy everything live where each execution starts incurring fees and such?

Also, doesn't Ethereum already have a problem with being too expensive? How does adding more and more "Protocols" and "layers" that each cost money help the end goal of reducing costs?

I think what all of these projects do wrong is to depict how the technology works with good diagrams from a variety of viewpoints in various context of real-world application. It's all words, text, code, mathematics, but very few visuals that make a connection to things that are real to the average person.
