Not exactly stupid if you already have gobs of 1oz and coin silver but they aren't particularly liquid. I have 10 hundos but don't really like them, poured kilos are the perfect "big" bar for me. I'd really like a First Majestic kilo for the stack.

Been up and fucking down this month brothers. First I had a job at a lab. Shit was crazy, breathing in coal dust, being told to label various samples with initials that I was never explained and other stuff. Quit after first day. Now the lab isn't even there any more and I'm not sure if I hallucinated it or if this was a twilight zone thing.

Then I applied and was interviewed to be a jeweler again, manager loved me, but his boss hasn't called me since. Probably won't get it due to being in grad school. Understandable, but still. Need the money.

In other news, while shopping for gifts for my wife, our children, and I, we went to a friend's antique store. I gazed upon a box, marked "19.95 all". Tis just a lovely red wooden music box. I open it, it's filled with gem stones. Rubies, citrines, emeralds, topaz, peridot, rutilated quartz (Titanium bro), opals, more than I'd seen in a while. I ask them if they're sure, and they happily lower the price to 15. I'm cataloguing it all now, will likely get appraised by a gemologist later. Shit is crazy. Pic related, the box and everything. Working on an imgur link to have all the stones in it.

It's maybe me wasting too much time on /pol/ but i've the feeling nazism is becoming really trendy lately. The more globohomo is pushing absolute degeneracy onto us, the more i see normies noping away and starting to be lured by the tradition-pill.
I've never hidden my powerlevel to my relatives, and now i've friends IRL who are really on the normie side who don't hesitate to name the jews during parties or in discussions and do roman salutes to greet me when i show up.

Is it just my social circle ora bunch of normies really are breaking the conditioning and start to be decomplexed about the 3rd reich?

> During the Victorian and Edwardian period, however, a more sophisticated means of coin storage was preferred- the sovereign case. These were small, portable boxes, usually made of sterling silver, fashioned into a cylindrical shape that made use of snap shut covers to contain the contents.

Sovereigns (a type of coin) at this time were worth one pound; modern sovereigns were made from 22 carat gold alloy and were first produced by the Royal Mint in 1817. As such, they were synonymous with wealth and prestige. The affluent and refined of this period were always seeking tasteful ways to display their status, and one way to do this was to utilise a sovereign case. Simply carrying these coins around loosely was not a sufficient means of exhibiting this prosperity, and so the gentlemen of this era made use of tastefully engraved sovereign cases, which often resembled pocket watches. Smaller cases were typically carried in a gentleman’s waistcoat pocket. Here, they were able to doubly display their status both with the extravagance of the case and the public knowledge of what it contained.

The extravagance of this period meant that it was actually possible to buy sovereign cases that had been combined with other popular products of the time. These included stamp and vesta cases (match boxes). Cases typically held 5 or 6 sovereigns per compartment, although it was possible to purchase a case that provided compartments for both full and half sovereigns. For security, cases were spring-loaded, which also ensured sovereigns were readily available when the case was opened.

For POSH people to carry Sov’s. I think they’re badass

Merry CHRISTmas.

Fact:
Judas died by suicide and his guts poured out from his annus like an explosion.

Upon Arius, the heretic, being proclaimed bishop of Constantinople (not ordained) was marched in a procession where upon Arius died of his literal bowels blowing out of his annus.

You have been visited by St. Nicholas the based slapper.
You must reply with "Slap St. Nicholas, Slap!"....

... and you may inherit true faith and dogma preserved in your soul unto eternity where God shall provide the means of what is needed for all good things including that the golden gains of which is righteous in preservation of His one Holy Roman Catholic Church.

^^^Lightweight that doesn't grasp that Judas was either given special dispensation and a one-way ticket to heaven because his sins were necessary for the Son of Man to complete his Divine Mission (i.e. his betrayal is the lynchpin to the entire Passion, and was vital to the Resurrection), or because he sinned, and because God was a stickler on such matters, he (along with Pontius Pilate, the legionnaires, and the crowd that booed Christ as he carried the cross) were all allowed to reincarnate and given a second chance to prove themselves worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. Like Judas, their betrayal was vital in creating the Paradox that the Son of Man needed to complete his mission. Righteousness needed Evil in order for the Righteousness to redeem that Evil. To condemn that evil would not only mean that the Son of Man's mission was stillborn in the womb, but to create these "wicked men" with the sole intention of committing evil and condemning them to eternal hellfire would be to rob them of both Free Will and a genuine chance to be converted by Christ (because Christ needed their evil in order to carry out his mission).

If you ever wondered why the Christian Gnostics got persecuted and wiped out, this is one of the reasons why (as well as their much more advanced understanding of the Trinity, and the fact that it should be viewed in its purest form as a mathematical equation that connects Human Consciousness to the Cosmos). Lightweights wearing pointy hats would travel from Rome to ancient Egypt in order to impose "divine authority" on them, they're theology would get absolutely BTFO by Gnostic sages, and thus they had to return to Rome with their hats in their hands and their tails tucked in between their legs. Desires of the Temporal Realm (wealth, power, and a chance to seize control of the Roman Empire) inevitably meant that the men wearing pointy hats had to wipe out the Gnostic Sages.

Merry Christmas anons. May the Logos be with you.

No idea honestly, I only own .999 bullion and that sterling bowl. The market for precious metals is much smaller where I live, we don't even have LCS's or places where you can smelt junk into pure metals here. Less buyers and sellers too, not sure whether my silver will be worth anything here after a (hypothetical) currency collapse

I guess grading coins like that could be worth it if you can do that for cheap, that coin looks nice and seems to be in good condition

Probably around VF so not worth getting graded. I detest slabbed coins but can see the value of getting great rarities or uncirculated examples graded, there is no real added value for most coins though.

Nice sterling btw, I agree that your items look better polished but it always depends on the piece. 20th century weighted stuff or "plain" items are often better polished but highly detailed/repousse older items look better with patina showing its age and providing depth and contrast. This c. 1750 ladle arrived a bit too polished for my liking but several years of atmospheric exposure should help.

I would say get a couple hundred cash and go to an LCS (Local Coin Shop) for your first purchase. Yelp can help you find a good shop.

LCS has a few advantages:

Cash over card for best price.
All cash, no paper record aside from a receipt they may give you. I'd hang onto that but no real biggie if you don't.

Most LCS dealers are good based people and will help explain/answer questions for a noob. Most like and welcome noobs. I say MOST. LCS clerks are somewhat like gun store employees. Most are nice, some are fuckwads. If you get a jerk, just don't buy there, there's probably more than one LCS in your area if you live in a relatively large city. Don't be surprised or freaked out if they're armed as well.

For first purchase, a government minted coin may be your best bet. American Silver Eagles and Canadian Silver Maples are the most common in North America. Other notable mentions are Britannias, South African Krugerands and Australian Kookaburras and Kangaroos.

You walk out the door with your new silver! No waiting.

Some cons:
Be situationally aware of where you are. If Tyrone is hanging out in the parking lot, nope the fuck out of there. Don't be flashy with your purchase. General common sense stuff. Most dealers will put your coins in a discreet bag.

You need to have a general idea of where the spot price is that day. That one shady dealer might try to put one on you if you reveal you're a nocoins, so at least be aware of what to generally expect for a price by doing some quick online searches beforehand.

Many LCS are not open on Sundays. Cuz Jesus n stuff. Again just be smart and look at the hours/reviews of the shop.

So. LCS for your first purchase my good anon. Godspeed and get you some physical.

If you want I can break down online purchases a little for you as far as my experiences have been.

No, exactly the reverse of what you think. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has roughly tripled since 2000 while the price of gold has gone up nearly seven-fold.

For the person who posted the very long term returns of a stock market index versus gold, that is to be expected and is not a good argument against holding gold at certain periods. In a good economy with reasonably sound money, it is far, far better to hold stocks than gold because gold, as money, does nothing by itself whereas stocks are ownership stakes in companies that are growing revenues and profits.

However, in periods where money is not particularly sound and/or ownership stakes in companies are dear as in a stock market bubble, it is better to avoid buying stocks and hold a less dear asset. Typically, this would be bonds but being that bonds are also dear, the best thing to hold is money. However, fiat currencies today are at risk of severe debauchment so it can be argued that gold, the currency that cannot be debased, is the safest place to hold one's capital.

Loved btc myself at first because it was totally anonymous, send money anywhere with hardly any fees, perfect for medium of exchange because infinitely divisible yet finite, and essentially you can be your own bank. Death to bankers.

Now it seems that bitcoin isn't really anonymous never was (it is psuedoanonymous but the transaction history is always public or else it wouldn't work), you can send money anywhere but it takes forever and is expensive if the network is busy or there aren't enough miners to handle the transactions (durin any bull run or panic buying), its horrible as a medium of exchange because it is deflationary (btc always taken out of circulation as keys/wallets are lost so who in their right mind would spend them if the value always goes up?), and unfortunately you cannot be your own bank because or governments will regulate it when it becomes too popular. That is not a fault of bitcoin but a sad reality.

Although bitcoin is not tangible, bitcoin DOES have intrinsic value due to the blockchain technology, however it id a catch22 because the only reason bitcoin is useful is if it is anonymous, secure, fast, cheap, and you can be your own bank yet unfortunately it doesn't seem like any of these characteristics are true in hindsight. The base case for gold is that as the status quo keeps going on you'll preserve your purchasing power with minimal risk. It also has the tail risk currency crash case going for it too of course

For making money with PM's I prefer mining stocks because they can be profitable for me even if the status quo stays for years or decades, as POG will remain high. Silver is much more speculative and I have less exposure to it in my mining stock portfolio

Gold is just perfect. Steady, low, self regulating inflation via actual real world mining. Tangible, divisible, bankers make more of it at will, and it doesn't disappear when someone dies or forgets where they put it. Its beautiful, doesnt tarnish or degrade. The biggest complaint about gold is ALWAYS its hard to store and transport. In the real world if we all agreed to use gold again as money, people probably wouldn't be spending it anyway, we would, in that idealized scenario, have a metal standard anyway, so things would be not so different as right now. You can use your digits to represent gold, but you would always want your own stack for security

Make sure they are actually genuine, I bolt-cuttered one ring stamped 14k and also .585 which was strange and it was just thickly plated silver.

For the worst societal collapse SHTF situation, paying someone off with gold wedding/engagement rings would arouse less suspicion (regarding you having more PMs hidden somewhere) than paying in slabbed gold coins or minty uncirculated rounds freshly dispensed from the tube crammed up one's arse. There was never any doubt that a digital currency could exist albeit all such ideas were founded on centralized control somewhere. For example, a digital currency could be created that does not rely on mining and has one "trusted" party that handled all transactions. Transactions in this digital currency would be fast and electrically inexpensive. However, such a digital currency still wouldn't have any intrinsic value and there would be no incentive for people to own.

The only reason cryptocurrencies are of any interest to the vast majority of people mucking with them is because they are tokens of speculation in the greatest Greatest Fool investment game ever. I'd be astonished if even 1% of Bitcoin transactions were for buying things.

The question is not whether the cryptocurrencies are a good proof of concept. They are for the most part. The real question is if the cryptocurrencies have any real value to them and if people buying these things are going to end up losing money. People are willing to bid up garbage for longer than almost all people think possible. Even the odd behavior of the craziness in cryptocurrencies is not new. Take a read of the following very interesting historical account of the fake country of Poyais and how there were huge run-ups in the bonds decades after it was fully exposed and acknowledged as a fraud.

https://investoramnesia.com/2020/06/10/rubbish-rallies/

For reference, during the period of the Poyais fraud, there were 12 pence in a shilling, 20 shillings in a pound. Pence had an abbreviation of "d" as in 6d for 6 pence or half a shilling. This is an artifact of Roman times (d = denarius; s = solidus; L = Librum).

No. Unless I misunderstand, you indicated that the blockchain, the ledger of transactions, is what gives Bitcoin its value. Why would I or anyone assign value to what is essentially a bunch of receipts?

If you're talking about the technology, well, it's free and anyone is allowed to use it to create another cryptocurrency. While the technology may have value [Note: it probably has utilitarian value but zero monetary value since it's open source and anyone can use it for free], that value does not necessarily flow to the various cryptocurrencies churned out by variants of that technology.

Nope. I'm not going to make any more comments about cryptocurrencies in this thread. As usual, none of the arguments presented convince me that any of the cryptocurrencies have any lasting value. We'll just have to see if cryptocurrencies are the 21st century version of Poyais bonds backed by nothing.

>It also has the tail risk currency crash case going for it too of course
The tail risk currency crash is the extreme extreme case. I am speaking more like total economic collapse a la 2008, where by 2010 gold and silver had exploded to nose bleed valuations before slowly sinking back down.

>deflationary currencies cannot work.
They can work, it would just mean an economy different from the one today. Purchases would be primarily made for assets and items which you would either need for survival or expect to increase in value greater than the deflationary pressure of BTC. Inflationary currency forces nearly all people to either spend their money on goods in the now, or on ever increasingly speculative assets. In fact, I would argue that for a large period of time most currencies were de fact deflationary. While their was central bank managed inflation, banks would grant you an interest rate which surpassed the rate of inflation. Your wealth was deflationary as your purchasing power increased through time.

>> No.25166592

Is said deflationary event even likely to happen? The Fed will BRRRRRRRRRRRR until the end of time, and when they roll out their CBDC there will be zero limits on the money printer

Every time a hard drive crashes, someone dies with giving out their passwords, or there is a "black swan" solar flare then that is BTC that is gone forever. Not only that but you have no idea which wallets are "lost" in irretrievable ways.
This makes it "rarer" but also means there is no reason to EVER sell your BTC for anything. The energy costs are getting parabolic to mine them. It would be like making a currency out of paintings of a particular artist or jewels from a certain royal family. It is a "BUY AND HODL" asset that has no intrinsic value except a technology that can be copied elsewhere. And it's very much a "wealthy country" consideration.
>While their was central bank managed inflation, banks would grant you an interest rate which surpassed the rate of inflation.
Gold and crypto are in part really voting machines about distrust in central banking/finance authorities. The appeal of the second in particular is from the inevitable fiat to zero cycle that is QE. Gold has survived countless fiat currencies. Crypto seems to be tracking the markets now, a speculative risky asset that will go to zero if SHTF. Even crypto miners tend to "lock in" profits in gold.

>why would you assign value to what is essentially a bunch of receipts

Because this technology is what makes bitcoin secure and stable. If the ledger could be changed or enable multiple competing ledgers then trust would erode and nobody would use it. I still don't think it is good for means of exchange which is essential.

Doge coin has the same code as btc yet is worth nothing. You can just create your own bitcoin because btc has a critical mass of market share. You can't make your own anymore than you can make your own Twitter, or make your own YouTube. The critical mass of users makes it so that even people who don't like it, occupy the platform because leaving it means they can't participate

I am not a BTC maximalist. It is a speculative asset which has the potential become a currency of some value, even if as an intermediary token to translate between fiat. But my larger point is that saying it is a deflationary asset is an automatic strike against it is incorrect. In fact gold, in many ways is deflationary relative to the dollar. Nearly every asset which makes gains to the dollar is deflationary. Inflationary and Deflationary are relative terms depending on what your basic unit of account is. Being slightly deflationary isn't an end to a currency. You are correct right now that BTC in its current phase is simply far too deflationary to being anything except pure HODL. But people still use BTC to pay for random bullshit, particularly the creator economy. 4chan passes are literally only accepted via deflationary crypto and people pay for that. Should another currency become a major unit of account (say gold) that is much more stable, then BTC deflationary pressures will go down and it may cease being a pure HODL asset.

I said I wasn't going to reply but this is actually a good argument and perhaps dangerous enough to trick someone into believing the cryptocurrency hype that it's a genuine investment or store of value. So your argument this time is, "Bitcoin has value because of the network effect." I think I've heard this argument before, too, and it also fails the sniff test because there are competitors with an even greater network effect. I think most people have heard of them: US dollars, euros, Swiss francs, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, PayPal, etc. It is absolutely possible to participate, and on a scale far more vast than with cryptocurrencies, in an economy using one of the mainstream competitors mentioned. There is nothing licit that I'm aware of that requires the use of a cryptocurrency and does not accept USD, EUR, etc. On the other hand, there are examples quite literally everywhere where USD, EUR, etc. are accepted but no cryptocurrency is accepted.

Say Pan Man have you been to this place yet? It's close to Wells/Barkerville and seems like a good place for panning, no? Also looking at all those national parks right there it's no wonder the local hippies are so against opening a mine, they probably think that you guys will somehow damage the nature there or something.

its silly really, as soon as you go off any major road in this area and look at the creeks, you will see traces of mining. There are dozens of small hard rock mines scattered across the hills too. The hippies just dont want to admit that times are changing again.

As for your pic everything accessible is claimed from mount tinsdale to Round top mountain, you may want to ask someone for permission before you try and dig somewhere, this area in the spring is a very busy place. However try down on the Cariboo River on the right side of Kimball Lake, cross a bridge and head east up hill into a narrow drainage, filled with large river stones, it appears on this map ive provided, its off on its own. Course nugget gold up to 40 grams have been recovered there recently but access is near impossible, claim owners wont mind you panning but thats it.

Goodness that's a bunch of notes lol, looks like you know the area extremely well. You've probably roamed those lands for years! As a total newbie to the whole industry, I thought it might be an area worth prospecting but I had no idea it would be straight-up crowded! Will you be doing any work in the area next year or will you direct your attention somewhere else?

It's a little bit weird but I'm only now beginning to grasp the absolute scale of these things... Up until now I was content with seeing things on the map and getting a feel for what is where but I had a revelation while researching a company with a project near Red Lake and pieces started coming together for me. Only now noticed where Red Lake, Pickle Lake, the Thierry Mine and Timmins were in relation to each other and felt like my mind expanded. So I went and looked at the Barkerville Gold Mine (Wells sure is a quaint town btw, has a very Wild West feel imho) and sure enough Lightning Creek where you have a claim right now was right down the road too!
Sorry for the nerd moment lmao, I just felt like my mind expanded a little.
