What's the secret to making good coffee?

also what should I use the money I save to invest in?

>> No.25079543

The secret is that you don't need to buy some 800 dollar machine like a hipster fag. Literally a 2 dollar coffee dripper is fine.

This. You don't need anything except good beans. Green beans are especially great if you want to try roasting yourself and then you can get your the desired perfect level of roast which is secondary to sourcing good green beans.

Everything else doesn't matter so long as the ratio of ground coffee-to-water is correct. Which is between 1:14 to 1:16 depending on how strong you favor your coffee. Or caffeine, rather.

French press, kenya AA, coarse grind in a simple braun grinder, let the water come down from a boil and then apply to the coffee. stir three times and put the plunger in on top. Let sit for one minute. Pour a cup and decant the rest or it will get bitter in the press. A tiny pinch of salt will kill any acid taste your beans may have had. Enjoy. Buy some Cheap grt and sell it tomorrow afternoon. Buy LTC and hold. Get some linkies and XLM. Good luck.

Im jewish in many areas but my coffee is not one of them. Good coffee is one of my favorite things.
The primary trick is buying whole bean coffee and grinding it right before the brew.
Cheap route is french press and cheap coffee grinder. Spinny blade grinder isn't ideal but is economical and works. French press should be glass and stainless, no large plastic parts. Whole setup = ~ 30-40$.
Mid grade is burr grinder and french press. The grind of your beans really does make a difference and burr is the best method. ~ 50-60$ us
High end is ceramic burr grinder and espresso machine for americanos. Buy a cheap-ish espresso machine (80-120$) and spend the money on the grinder (100-200$). Learn how to make a good americano.

In all three grind the beans just before you make the coffee. Don't fall for high dollar bean Jews. As a rule of thumb starbucks is expensive to me. I use "premium" store brand beans and typically pay 12$ or less per pound. Lavazza is italian and can be bought on Amazon. Seattle's best #2 is another favorite of mine.
Decent whole beans and good grinder. Everything else matters less.

>boil water
>pour enough to wet the grounds
>wait about a minute
>dump that liquid
>continue pour over as usual
This is all you have to do for perfect coffee.

Make cold brew at home. Cheapest and best tasting way to make coffee for the week

>> No.25080784

>>25080311
Convenience. That's really all any coffee specific apartus is. Back in the day, cowboys used to roast their beans, and extract the coffee solids from the beans to create coffee, all within a pot over an open flame. Now I don't suggest you go that rugged as that takes far too much time and is too big a trade off when you consider the simple convenience of a $10 grinder and $10 manual coffee maker such as a French press. But please do spend more money on high quality beans. Start with pre-roasted beans so you can get a taste of how much or little you like them roasted. Never buy pre-ground coffee. Grind it yourself. Again, doesn't need to be an expensive grinder but the beans lose most of their flavor within the day they are ground.

guys how do I make coffee taste good without creamer or sugar? Is coffee always just naturally really bitter? Or am I doing it wrong and the extreme bitter taste is just a result of that?

I bought an espresso machine with grinder built in, was like $1500-2000 or so but well worth it. Was annoying at first since I couldn't froth milk right so it was lumpy as fuck but after a while you begin to perfect it.
Fuck going to a cafe to buy a $5 coffee like every cunt around me does daily. I make it at home and its just as good.
